The Diablo 4 game adds an evade function, which in the case of the PC version, is assigned to the space bar. It allows players to dodge enemy attacks. Furthermore, the game includes a stagger system for some monsters. Players can induce control effects on bosses, and in doing so, this fills up their stagger bar. When it fills, the boss becomes staggered.
A World Bosses health bar has 4 breakpoints. Once a breakpoint is reached, the red arrow flips up and turn grey. This indicates that you are in the next phase of the fight, while also dropping multiple healing vials. Each phase becomes increasingly more challenging.
The cool thing about bosses in Diablo 4 and Ashava is a great example of this is the new stagger system. This means you can bring your control effects into fights against bosses, like your stuns, freezes, chills. When you apply them to bosses, it builds up the stagger bar. When it’s filled, the boss becomes staggered and something cool happens.
If bosses, including world bosses, were vulnerable to every character’s crowd control effects (e.g., a freeze or stun), they’d be too easy to beat. On the other hand, these effects should count towards something, so Blizzard created the boss stagger system in Diablo 4. This is a thin, gold-colored bar that displays underneath the boss’s health bar. When players hit the boss with an attack that includes a crowd control effect, the bar starts to fill. Once completely full, the monster suffers a brutal injury that handicaps it for the rest of the fight.
Immediately beneath the health bar is a stagger bar that fills when Crowd Control (CC) is dealt. Once full, the World Boss is rendered helpless for 12 seconds. Use this time to unleash as much hell as you possibly can. Each World Boss also has a unique mechanic in addition to being staggered. The Ashava World Boss arm blade breaks permanently when staggered, making her weaker for the rest of the fight.
