A Primary Resource is gathered in different ways depending on class and each skill has a different resource cost. For example, Mana or Fury are resource pools. Diablo 4 follows the same pattern as Diablo 3, with each class having its own unique resource.

This stat can roll on an Amulet and it comes in three different flavors: Fury, Energy, or Mana. As the name suggests it reduces the cost of your skills. We don't know how this stat would stack because we only found it on the Amulets.
This stat gives a flat bonus to your Maximum Resource. It can roll on Rings and, similar to Resource Cost Reduction, it comes in three different variations depending on your class.
The Barbarian uses Fury. Barbarian Fury is generated by taking damage or using Fury generating skills.

The Resources you collect are always useful, because you can transmute certain Resources into others. This allows the Player a way to give their Gallowvine and Iron Chunks a necessary glow-up when the materials they need to craft become more rare, or downgrade rarer materials if you’re in need of some cheaper options. Seems like this Alchemist tab is enabling all the hoarder-style players like me, to stop and pick every flower they see!
