In the full game, players will acquire Sigils that will unlock Nightmare Dungeons which are specifically designed to be completed repeatedly and are optimized to be highly rewarding and replayable. Sigils will be earned primarily through Whispers of the Dead in World Tiers 3 and 4, but can also be crafted at the Occultist. Sigils have set levels, and have affixes which alter how enemies work.
Players can use the Occultist to forge Nightmare Sigils, which are used to enter Nightmare Dungeons, the hardest dungeons in the game. It’s unclear whether the player has any control over the affixes on the Sigils, but the tier (i.e., difficulty) can be selected, assuming the player has enough resources.
While the information we have a very limited, Sigils are special consumable items that transform Dungeons into Nightmare Dungeons. The Sigil adds "Afflictions" to the Dungeon, potentially increasing the danger and rewards of running that Dungeon. While the specifics are unknown, we do have the crafting costs and requirements of each tier.

Because Nightmare Sigils are rather common (at least the lower tier ones), players can use the Occultist to salvage unwanted ones for some type of material in return.
