Diablo 4 Character Customization

Diablo IV will launch with five classes— the Barbarian, Druid, Necromancer, Rogue, and Sorceress. Some classes will have class-specific quests.

Lore

The player character is generally referred to as "wanderer" by NPCs. Their goal involves pursuing Lilith across Sanctuary. It has been implied that canonically, all the classes are working together, and that the characters are newcomers. At the start of the game, the player character is shown huddling in a cave, freezing, alongside a dead mount.

Customization

Players can choose a pre-set character design, or can customize the appearance of their character. Customizable elements include the following:

• Gender
• Eyes
• Face
• Hairstyle
• Facial hair (beards, eyebrows)
• Jewelry (includes earrings and nose rings)
• Makeup
• Body markings (e.g. tattoos, body paint)

The color of the character's skin, eyes, hair/facial hair, and body markings can be adjusted. Some elements will be class specific, to support the classes’ unique backgrounds, but many will be shared between classes allowing more possibilities to mix and match. Despite the customization, the silouettes of the characters remains constant. For instance, a player can't create a skinny Barbarian, or a muscular Sorceress. This extends to armor pieces; classes can use the same armor, but the armor's appearance will always correspond to the class, not the other way round.

Diablo IV is all about player choice. It takes all of the pillars of a Diablo game and just expands them with all the new features that people really love and appreciate in modern games. Whoever you see yourself being, you can create in Diablo IV.

It’s important to include robust character customization, because then I can play the fantasy that I want to play. It allows you to switch around your playstyle as well. Everything feels very powerful and fun.

Face and Body

Three are four face variations at minimum with multiple variations on skin tone from light to dark. The face expressions can also be changed by selecting one of the eight facial options.

Hair

Hair styles and facial hair color can be changed via the hair options tab. There's a minumum of 11 hair style option to choose from and 11 facial hair styles dependent on class.

Accessories

Accessories include:

Getting the right look

Messing around with the character creator can be time consuming but there is a randomize option to help find a look quickly or to build from to create your own look.

Once a character is complete and you're happy with it, you can finalize it before heading into the game.
