The set vendor prices restrict the possible exchange rates in the player market; for example, a Chromatic Orb will never be worth more than 3x Jeweller’s Orb on the player market. However, this holds only in one direction; for example, 3x Jeweller’s Orb are worth much more than a Chromatic Orb on the player market. Generally, only the vendor rates of 2x Orb of Alteration : Jeweller’s Orb and 4x Jeweller’s Orb : Orb of Fusing are even close to the player market values.

Vendors and player economy

Vendor prices are a base value for comparisons, player market value will vary. Since players can’t downgrade one Orb of Fusing into eight Orbs of Alteration, they may be willing to sell them for less. High-level players will tend to accumulate rarer currencies, and when they begin rolling maps and running them, may run out of smaller denominations such as wisdom scrolls and orbs of alterations.
