How to farm in Netherrealm?
Original author: TapTap @Louispapa
▸Game Stages
Farming the Netherrealm can be divided into three main stages:
1. Unlocking Time Mark 1~7
2. Stable and efficient farming in Timemark7.
3. Advanced Hunter, selecting your preferred playstyle
The primary objectives during stages one and two:
- Reach level 95
- Unlock all Trait Cards and maximize their stars
▸Netherrealm Basic Overview
Netherrealm Main Interface:
1. Cinder Quantity: Earned by defeating the current highest Timemark Plane Watcher in each region, and used to unlock various Netherrealm content. With one point provided by each Timemark Plane Watcher in the 5 regions, you can collect up to 35 points (5x7=35) to unlock all Netherrealm areas.
2. The Realms Traveler: Defeat any Timemark 7 Plane Watcher to obtain the [The Beginning] Beacon. Each challenge requires 4 beacons. (For K8 The Realms, defeat Timemark 8 Plane Watcher to obtain the [The End] ticket)
3. Timemark 8 Switch: Unlockable after defeating Timemark 7 The Realms. Timemark 8 is more challenging for new hunters but provides generous rewards and requires a certain level of strength.
4. The End BOSS challenge for each Season-exclusive Gameplay: Requires corresponding tickets, obtainable in Dark Surge, Pirate, and Cube Gameplay, as well as from monsters.
5. Help Instructions: Detailed Netherrealm Gameplay instructions are available; click the question marks to review them carefully.
Region Main Interface:
1. Timemark Difficulty Selection: Upon defeating the highest Timemark Plane Watcher, the next Timemark difficulty will be unlocked.
2. Region Plane Watcher: The progress bar below is the focal point. In the current region's Timemark, the progress bar will increase by 1 point for each completed Netherrealm map. When the progress bar is full, you can challenge the Plane Watcher.
Challenge Success: Points are reset; Challenge Failure: A percentage of points are returned.
(Note: Plane Watchers within the same region but with different Timemarks do not share the focus progress bar.)
3. Chaos Invasion Attempts: Generally, there are 5 default attempts. Each completed Netherrealm map consumes an invasion attempt. When all attempts are exhausted, a new round of Chaos Invasion commences. Chaos Invasion and Plane Watcher focus points should be considered separate and independently.
(Note: In simpler terms, each time a new Chaos Invasion starts, the system randomly draws and distributes Confusion Cards and Trait Cards. You have 5 chances to play cards (complete maps) per round, and when these are exhausted, the next round begins.)
4. Confusion Card Deck: This can be simply understood as the system card pool. Each time, a certain number of cards will be randomly drawn from your entire unlocked Confusion Card pool.
(Note: Based on observations in K7, the system currently defaults to drawing 3 Confusion Cards per round. Some Trait Cards can also draw Confusion Cards.)
5. Trait Card Deck: This can be simply understood as the Customize Card pool. Each time, a certain number of cards will be randomly drawn from your configured Customize Card pool.
You can only customize your Personality Card pool when you have unlocked more than 10 Trait Cards. If you have fewer than 10 cards, the default is to draw cards from the unlocked Card pool.
(Note: Through observation in K7, the system currently defaults to drawing 6 Personality Cards per round. Therefore, each new invasion round starts with 3 Confusion + 6 Personality = 9 Cards. With fewer Timemarks, the quantity of maps is smaller, resulting in fewer cards being drawn.)
6. Trait Card Unlock Level Up Progress Check: The higher the total number of stars for Cards, the greater the probability of Awakening a card during the draw. Awakened Cards have enhanced abilities.
Trait Card Unlock:
Upon encountering a Locked Card, as depicted in the image below, a text prompt will display: "Clear the stage to obtain this Trait Card."
Trait Card Level Up:
Following each Chaos Invasion round, three random Trait Cards eligible for Level Up will emerge. Select one to enhance that Trait Card.
Trait Card Pool Configuration:
After finishing each Chaos Invasion round, if you possess more than 10 Unlocked Trait Cards, click on the image below to arrange your Card Pool.
▸Stage 1: Unlocking Time Mark 1~7
Main Objective for this Phase:
Follow the Main Quest prompts, quickly defeat Plane Watchers in each area to obtain Flicker Flames, unlock new content and regions, and progressively advance through the Time Mark map.
Key Points for this Phase:
Beacon Acquisition:
Beacon-to-Time Mark Correspondence:
Tier 1 Beacon — Time Mark 1 & 2
Tier 2 Beacon — Time Mark 3 & 4
Tier 3 Beacon — Time Mark 5 & 6
Tier 4 Beacon — Time Mark 7
Tier 5 Beacon — Time Mark 8
A. Story Drop: When defeating monsters in Chapter 5 of the Story, there's a chance to drop Tier 1 Beacons;
B. NPC Exchange: Tier 1-4 Beacons can be exchanged at the [Trader] using [Netherrealm Resonance]; (During the initial server opening, you can exchange Beacons as needed to unlock content.)
C. Netherrealm Drop: Typically, defeating creatures in a specific Time Mark will drop Beacons of the corresponding tier. Defeating map bosses have a chance to drop a higher tier Beacon. Defeating Plane Watchers will likely drop a higher-tiered Beacon.
D. Trade House Purchase: Depending on your personal situation, buy as needed
Precautions:
A. When first starting Netherrealm, remember to alternate between different areas for farming, as focusing on one area may lead to a shortage of tickets.
B. When a region's Time Mark increases, remember to select a higher Time Mark even if you're not farming that area.
(For example, if Glacial Abyss and Blistering Lava Sea both have risen to Time Mark 7, but you are farming Freeze K7, and Lava Sea is at K6, then the Lava Sea Beacons you drop will be Tier 3 instead of Tier 4)
Phase Techniques:
A. Prioritize unlocking and leveling up the【Regretful】and【Pity】Trait Cards, as their effects allow you to gain additional attention points upon completing a Netherrealm map. Since our goal is to quickly increase Time Marks, we need to defeat each Time Mark's Plane Watcher as soon as possible. Additionally, obtaining 2 points per map early on when Beacons are scarce is very efficient, making these two cards the best choice for this phase.
B. Second, prioritize unlocking and leveling up the 【Benevolent】Card, essential for farm flame fuel. Maxing it out earlier will put you at ease.
C. For the last unlockable Card, I personally recommend unlocking the Reward cards for each boss first. During quick map progression, the primary goal is to swiftly defeat bosses. Cards that grant Legendary, Netherrealm Resonance, and Beacon bonuses (such as 【Unrestrained】, 【Recollection】, and 【Lively】) are more useful in early stages.
D. Before T6, concentrate on equipment for health recovery and resistance to reduce Deaths and expedite leveling up (unless you have plenty of Revival Tokens). After T6, focus on highlighted ground equipment, as some level 80 Affix items may drop. Keep and check gear that can improve your damage output or survival.
E. Upon exiting the Story, your basic damage should suffice for T2 and T3, but some builds may struggle starting from K4. As each build differs, consult recommended build creators for specific equipment issues during progression.
However, a universal rule for all builds is to level up more. The damage increase from Talents is significant; if you're a new hunter unsure about equipment choices, leveling up becomes even more critical.
F. When equipment stats are similar, prioritize using higher item level equipment, as it provides more Energy value and unlocks additional skill slots.
▸Stage 2: Stable and efficient farming in Timemark7
Main objectives of this phase:
A. Quickly unlock Timemark7 on all region maps, level up characters to 90 or even 95, unlock all Trait Cards, and concentrate on leveling up target cards in the deck.
B. Increase character damage output to over 10 million, health to 3000, maximize all three Elemental Resistances, and raise Erosion Resistance as high as possible.
C. For equipment, choose what's suitable for your build and aim to replace everything with Item level ≥80 (head, chest, shoes, and weapons; jewelry). If the energy isn't full when you acquire it, visit the Arms Dealer and use the "Gear Empowerment" feature to enhance energy. It doesn't need to be maxed out; just ensure it's sufficient to use.
Important notes for this phase:
A. As leveling up is the primary goal, when you have limited Revival Tokens, focus on increasing your survival:
a. In addition to the mentioned Resistances and max health, seek gear affixes like "XX Life Regeneration per Second." Prioritize flat values over percentages initially. If skill slots permit, consider using a "Rejuvenation" Aura.
b. Without affecting damage output significantly, allocate some energy to the "Auto Defense" passive skill, link it to "Delayed Pain" and "Frost Shield" to minimize the chance of getting one-shot killed. If you have Minions or a Spirit Magus, link "Protective Stance" as well. This is known as the "defense trinity."
B. Begin planning your farming card deck and prioritize leveling up purposeful cards.
a. Various card combinations exist for farming, and many authors have written about them; feel free to seek further details.
I will simply categorize them into Boss-focused and others. When your target deck is incomplete or levels are insufficient, I recommend using cards beneficial for Boss fights, combined with "Regretful" and "Pity" to concentrate on obtaining rewards.
Swiftly complete a Chaos Invasion to level up cards and accumulate Plane Watcher progress (Plane Watcher drops valuable and powerful Legendaries).
b. Also, consider having two God of War cards, "Brave" and "Fearless." Before your build is complete, capitalizing on War Shrines can provide decent Movement Speed and Skill Radius bonuses, aiding in faster map clearance.
C. Monitor the Trade House for affordable Legendaries suitable for your build. Don't wait until you have all the required currency to purchase everything simultaneously; upgrade your gear piece by piece.
Note: This only applies to the first few days after the server opens.
D. Pay attention to the Hero Ranking and observe which Characters are popular. As you collect your own gear, watch for gear suitable for these popular builds and sell them for resources.
Note: This only applies to the first few days after the server opens and assumes you have a basic understanding of different builds. At this point, only double Tier 1 or Flawless Affix items may have a market; single Tier 1 items have little demand since most players' gear is already complete.
E. Chaos Invasion map farming order
Different reward card decks may have varying map orders, and listing them all is not feasible. Please refer to other authors' guides.
I will explain the basic logic for map order for beginners. The text might not be perfectly clear.
Most Trait Cards have "Inheritance" stats once fully upgraded.
For example, if a card has "Inheritance: 5" or "Inheritance: 4", during the current Chaos Invasion, if the first map you play has this card, the remaining 4 maps will have the bonus effect of the first card.
As a result, after inheriting various cards, the last 1-2 maps of the invasion will have 4-5 stacked reward buffs, significantly increasing overall farming rewards.
▸Stage 3: Advanced Hunter
Level 90-95;
Core Talents mostly completed;
Fully unlocked and maxed out planned card decks;
Established basic BD formation capable of clearing T7 without dying;
Now, you can start farming resources efficiently! Depending on your resource farming card decks (e.g., Flame, Memory, Legendary, Six Gods, tearing maps for BOSS rewards), accumulate resources and enhance your BD strength.
Utilize your best-crafted characters to swiftly farm T8, challenge the 45th floor of The POB, and defeat various The End bosses.
Points to consider during this stage:
1. For those focused on map farming, once your BD strength reaches a certain level and you have accumulated enough resources, it is advisable to switch from T7 to T8 for the final 1-2 maps of each Chaos Invasion round (after stacking Card BUFFs in T7, switch to T8 for higher returns). This is because the drop rate in K8 is significantly higher than in T7, potentially over twice as much.
However, be aware that monster strength in T8 is very high, so attempt it at your own risk.
2. Concerning the required strength for T7 and T8, here is my personal estimation:
Damage output:
Smooth Farming T7: Recommended DPS - 10 million
Swimming in T7: Recommended DPS - 100 million
Smooth Farming T8: Recommended DPS - over 100 million
Swimming in T8: Recommended DPS - at least 1 billion
Note:
Smooth means: Use 1-2 Netherrealm Resonance, minimally using Compass
Swimming means: Max out Netherrealm Resonance, use Compass freely
DPS is merely a rough reference; the higher, the better. Additionally, different BDs have varying skill sets, so their map-clearing experiences will also differ.
Defense:
Different BDs have unique defense mechanisms, so experiment and see what works best for you.
Torchlight Infinite Flame Elementium
When Hunters defeat monsters in the Netherrealm map, they can earn drops with special affixes: Void Sea Night Flame.
Upon defeating the boss at the end of a stage, an interactive device will appear on the map: Void Sea Seal. You can break the seal with any Void Sea Night Flame to unlock a random Seal Whisper based on the affix of the Void Sea Nifhg Flame.
After breaking six seals, Hunters can go to the Void Sea End Port to challenge the Bride of Void Sea. After Completing the challenge, you can open the Bride's treasure. The content of the treasure will be affected by the "Seal Whispers" obtained when breaking the seal: Precious "Seal Whispers" can be combined to bring extremely rich rewards.
After being defeated, the Bride of Void Sea might drop a ticket: Void Sea Invitation. After collecting all Void Sea Invitations, you will be able to challenge the final boss of the season: Lord of Void Sea, who will drop several unique Legendary Items.
About Cinder:
1. The number of Cinder displayed in the upper right corner of the Netherrealm interface marks the player's progress in the Netherrealm.
2. New Netherrealm planes and the final Boss of the Netherrealm need to be unlocked by obtaining a certain amount of Cinders.
3. By defeating the plane watcher of the highest Timemark unlocked in each Netherrealm, players can obtain one Cinder. A watcher of a higher Timemark unlocks at the same time.
4. The highest Timemark of each Netherrealm is 7, i.e. a max of 7 Cinders can be obtained from at Netherrealm.
About Beacons:
1. Beacons are required to open a Netherrealm. Any Netherrealm stage can only be opened with the specified Beacon.
2. The best way to obtain Beacons is to defeat monsters in the Netherrealm.
3. Usually, the level of the dropped Beacon is the same as the Timemark of the Netherrealm, but not higher than the stage level.
4. Defeating legendary bosses in Netherrealm has a chance to drop higher-rank Beacons. Players have an increased chance to gain higher-rank Beacons by defeating the plane boss.
5. Rank 1 Beacons can be obtained by killing monsters in the later stages of the story.
About Plane Watcher:
1. Completing each Netherrealm stage grants Monitor Points for plane watchers with the same Timemark. Collect enough Monitor Points to challenge the plane watcher.
2. As each Netherrealm stage is cleared, the Monitor Points it provides reduce. After successfully challenging the plane watcher, the number of Monitor Points is reset.
3. Failing to challenge the plane watcher returns a portion of Monitor Points. The higher rank the Timemark is, the fewer points are returned.
4. At Timemark 1-5, successfully challenging plane watchers for the first time grants additional drops.
About Netherrealm Turbulence:
1. Netherrealm Turbulence unlocks after Traveler-Realm Lord is defeated. Turbulence features high difficulty along with bountiful rewards.
2. In the Turbulence, Beacons mostly drop from plane watchers of Timemark 7.
Others:
1. All characters on a player's account share the same Netherrealm in one season.

Cinders are obtained from defeating the Plane Watchers.
Beacons are mainly acquired from the Netherrealm.
Better beacons have a chance to drop from the Bosses of Netherrealm. On top of that, the stage boss of Story Chapter 5 also drops beacons.
The number of base affixes has an impact on a Netherrealm stage in terms of the drop quantity and rarity.
You may reset affixes on a map to avoid dangerous harmful affixes or to pursue higher potential rewards from Netherrealm stages.
Each Plane Watcher yields Cinder along with bountiful and exclusive rewards.
Stages and bosses of each plane may drop exclusive items.
As the plane difficulty increases, more exclusive items will be added with higher drop rates.
Defeating the plane boss or the Traveler guarantees an exclusive Legendary item.
Defeating a plane boss enables you to increase the plane's difficulty.
This also makes your adventure more rewarding.
Collect sufficient Cinders to unlock new Netherrealm planes.
You start over from different difficulties with these planes, and unlocking them will also yield additional Cinders.
Netherrealm Prism Slots will unlock after you've collected 18 Cinders.
Use the Prisms before entering the map to bring both greater rewards and greater challenges.
After the Netherrealm Chaos Invasion becomes available, use Chaos Invasion Attempts to play Netherrealm stages.
After all the Chaos Invasion Attempts of a round have been used up, the plane will enter a new round of Chaos Invasion.
In the new round, the cards will be drawn and placed again and the Chaos Invasion Attempts will be fully restored.
After each round of Chaos Invasion, you can select one card from three Trait Cards and add it to the card library and manually set the Trait Cards to be used in the next round.
The decks of Trait Cards in the planes are mutually independent.

When Trait Cards with a certain tag in a deck of Trait Cards are more than the cards with other tags, the Chaos Cards with that specific tag have a higher chance to appear.
Maybe you can come up with unique strategies around some Chaos Cards...
The effects of the cards with the keyword Inheritance last over time, affecting all the stages in the plane.
Some cards' effects will multiply rewards when they are combined via Inheritance.
Trait Cards have a really small chance to be awakened when drawn.
Awakened cards have way better values than the original cards.
The chance of awakening will be slightly enhanced along with the increase of the level of a card.
You can only challenge the Traveler after reaching the highest difficulty on all planes (collect 35 cinders).
As the current final boss, the Traveler is extraordinarily powerful, but players may challenge him as many times as they want.
After completing the first Traveler challenge, you will need to defeat four plane bosses to be able to challenge the Traveler again.
