Throne and Liberty PvP — TL

Throne and Liberty has a class-less combat system, which means players can adapt their style by picking up different weapons without feeling tied-down to a certain set of skills and abilities. PVP is not forced, but can instead be opted into by entering certain zones during PVP events. There is a PVP ranking system. Guilds can also compete over areas of the map and earn rewards for controlling certain zones.

PvP

PvP (Player versus player) combat system allows players to decide whether they want to engage or not. Most of TL's fields are safe zones.

Once competitions like regional events or boss raids begin, certain fields will become combat zones. Players can proactively choose to participate or not. No matter the area a player is in, they can check what events and competitions are upcoming, allowing them to strategize their gameplay and ensuring that there is no chance for players to fall into unexpected PvP situations.

Throne and Liberty PvP

TL's world is comprised of diverse and multifaceted areas, and competitions are based on the background stories of each region. For those regional events, all players in a certain region can participate.

Players will compete for approximately 20 minutes and fight to move up in rank.

Throne and Liberty PvP

As with most MMOs that choose to include a mixture of PvE and PvP content, the developers of Throne and Liberty must attempt to find the correct balance for all of its players, as it's inevitable that some players won't want to do any PvP at all, while others prefer to focus their efforts primarily on fighting against other players. And of course many players will fit somewhere in between these two categories.  The majority of the game's world will be considered a "safe zone" at any given time, meaning that no PvP occurs there. However, each area in the game will have a schedule of events that take place, which all players in the area can view. Some of these events will cause a PvP competition to begin in the area, and players can go there to participate, competing against other players to increase their rank in the competition.

Throne and Liberty PvP

  • The developers of Throne and Liberty have implemented rules for player versus player (PvP) combat that allow players to choose whether they want to participate in PvP battles or not.
  • While most zones in the game are safe, certain areas may become open for combat during regional events or boss raids. Players can choose whether to participate in these battles or not, and can check the schedule for upcoming events and competitions to plan their gameplay and avoid unexpected PvP encounters.
  • Throne and Liberty’s world is made up of diverse regions, each with its own unique backstory and corresponding competitions that all players in the region can participate in. These regional battles typically last for around 20 minutes.
  • In the world of Throne and Liberty, there are special items that can only be owned by guilds: the Blessing Stone and the Dimension stone, together these are called the Possession Stones These stones allow guilds to expand their capabilities and acquire necessary raw materials.
  • To obtain these stones, players must participate in battles and strategize by understanding the terrain, locating the Stones of Possession, and making tactical decisions such as setting up a defensive perimeter or selecting the best approach.
  • Events are tied to Regional Events, such as the Wolf Tail event where players collect and turn in wolf tails and there is a leaderboard and PVP involved. World Bosses are also considered events and have PVP turned on. Guild/Occupation Wars are also an event.
  • There seems to be a strong emphasis on having a great PVE experience in comparison to Lineage or other NCSoft titles which emphasized PVP. We have already seen quite a few world bosses(See the Bestiary section).
  • The status of PVP is very up in the air. We don’t know after the latest update what the actual direction is for world PVP and the Karma system as they said in the Director’s Preview that most zones are PVP safe zones, which contradicts things they have said in the past regarding the Evil Deeds PK system. It is also contradicted in the same video where they hint at PVP being on in the open-world dungeons. That being said, we do know that there is a lot of PVP in TL in the form of Occupation Wars and Sieges. Siege's fight over major objectives like Castles, and Occupation Wars focus on world capture points that confer benefits to the guild that owns them. PVP might be on in dungeons, world bosses, some regional events, and of course Guild and Occupation Wars, but we need further confirmation on some of the PVP elements for sure.

PvP Locations & Rewards

The developers didn't give us any specifics about the kinds of rewards you'll be able to earn from these events, however they were keen to emphasize that this system should ensure that players don't find themselves stuck in a PvP situation without wanting to be there. It seems there are no PvP only zones, so if there's something you want or need to check out in an area that currently has a PvP event ongoing, you can just return there a little later on if you don't want to get caught up fighting other players.

Guild Wars

There will also be Guild wars in Throne and Liberty. Powerful relics known as Possession Stones will be up for grabs in these battles, and acquiring them will unlock enhanced guild capabilities and procurement of important materials for the guild.  The Director's Preview video showed off some pretty large battles between players when they were speaking about the Guild wars, so fans of large PvP battlefields in MMORPGs might want to keep an eye on Throne and Liberty.

Safe Zones

The majority of the game’s fields will be considered a “safe zone”, meaning that no PvP occurs there. However from time to time competitions like regional events or boss raids begin, certain fields will allow pvp to happen. Some of these events will cause a PvP competition to begin in the area, and players can go there to participate, competing against other players to increase their rank in the competition.

PVP Events

Players will have the option to choose to participate or not. You will have the option to check what events are planned via an in-game calendar. This should allow for strategic gameplay giving players no choice to fall into unexpected pvp gameplay. This battles and events normally last around 20 minutes.

Large Castle Sieges

We can see there are multiple Guild vs Guild battles, everything from open field to large castle sieges. In nearly every video preview we have seen on Throne and Liberty we get to see some kind of large player vs player battles. If you are a fan of large PVP Battles in MMORPGs you will want to keep an eye on Throne and Liberty.

One game mode we saw was a capture the flag type game mode where Guilds are required to hold and control Possession Stones. Its not clear if this is instanced or in the Open World. Possession Stones These stones allow guilds to expand their capabilities and acquire necessary raw materials.

The huge castle siege battlefields look amazing. With what looks like hundreds of players attacking and defending huge castles. Which can only result in fruitful rewards for the winning team. Player will be able to take control of gigantic stone rock Gollums which can smash down doors or carry players onto the walls.
