Throne and Liberty Console Release Date & Crossplay — TL

The best platforms for players to enjoy TL on, in my opinion, would be PC and console. The moving experience that is unique to MMOs can't be felt on mobile, but it really comes alive on PC and console.

Q. We are preparing for PC and console release together. But in fact, since <Blade & Soul>, NC's various projects have been preparing for consoles in parallel, but they have never actually been released. <TL> Is the console launch real?

Ahn Jong-ok PD: It's real. Even internally, we received so many questions asking, ‘Isn’t he just talking and not making?’, so we even filmed a video by ourselves. Let me show you.

Q. Are both Xbox and PS versions available?

Ahn Jong-ok PD: Yes.

Q. Is cloud play in progress using NC’s ‘Purple’ app?

Ahn Jong-ok PD: That's right. It is being developed so that you can access and play the 'Purple' app on mobile.

Q. Will crossplay between the PC and console versions be supported?

Ahn Jong-ok PD: I tried to implement it at first, but there were limitations. Service providers (console companies) also saw it as an unrealistic plan due to problems such as concurrent patching.

Lee Mun-seop, general manager of planning: If it's another problem with PC console integration, it seems that users of the two platforms feel unfair when playing games together. Even in a verbal (chat) battle right now, consoles can’t win (laughs). I wondered if it would be a positive experience from the user's point of view. In addition to technical problems, it was judged that it could not be good in terms of user experience.

However, we plan to provide exactly the same content for both platforms. Due to the nature of the console platform, there will inevitably be a time difference with the PC version due to the content distribution approval process, but the play itself will be the same.

Q. How well do you know when the console version will be launched? How different will it be from the PC version?

Ahn Jong-ok PD: It's hard to say specifically.

Han Gu-min, Narrative Director: The development team's will is clear. The problem is with the console companies. Console companies also have very strict QA periods, so it is difficult for us to tell you exactly when it will be released. This is to avoid customer confusion.

What is certain is that the development room has the idea of ‘must pay’. The company also agrees. In a situation where they are aiming for global markets, including North America, console launches cannot be missed. In addition, console development costs are already high, so it is difficult to give up midway anyway.
