Throne and Liberty (also known as TL) is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) by NCSoft. The current version of the game seems to feature a 3rd person action perspective, which has changed since it’s initial inception.

NCSOFT and Amazon Games Reach Deal for Global Publishing of ‘THRONE AND LIBERTY’

NCSOFT, a global premier game developer and publisher, today announced a global publishing agreement with Amazon Games for the company’s next-generation massively multiplayer online role-playing game, THRONE AND LIBERTY.

With this agreement, Amazon Games has secured global publishing rights to bring THRONE AND LIBERTY to North America, South America, Europe, and Japan. NCSOFT will be in charge of publishing the game in other Asia territories, including Korea and Taiwan.

THRONE AND LIBERTY is the next-generation AAA MMORPG title, developed under the slogan of ‘Play For All’. The highly anticipated title will present a seamless living world and dungeon features that change depending on the weather condition and surrounding environments. It has an immersive narrative where the past, present, and future are connected. The game also offers ‘Free Class’ systems, where player roles are decided by their own choices, and a player vs. player combat system that allows players to decide whether they want to engage or not.

The Western Publisher is rumored to be Amazon. An exact release date for Throne & Liberty is unknown however the game is now scheduled for the first half of 2023 (it was previously scheduled for Q4 2022 but a delay was announced to resolve publishing issues).

Recently there have been rumours that NCSoft will partner with Amazon Game Studios, with Amazon set to publish Throne And Liberty in the western markets. A deal was said to be “highly likely” however nothing is currently confirmed.

Amazon Games Might Be The Perfect Publisher For NCSoft

Amazon Games has helped publish New World and Lost Ark in back-to-back years and they have been highly successful. Lost Ark continues to be among the top games on Steam and we might see the same level of success with Throne and Liberty.

According to Korea’s Money Today, Amazon Games will handle the publishing of the game outside Korea. This is promising because the publisher has been pretty good at marketing the games that it takes up and we have seen quite a few big projects in Amazon’s hands. 

Throne and Liberty is being developed alongside another title by NCSoft which might also be published by Amazon Games. There is another unnamed project that is being developed simultaneously and it is currently titled Project E. While Throne and Liberty will take place in Solisium, Project E will take place in Laisak which is part of the same world.

Delayed

Throne And Liberty was more recently delayed until the first half of 2023 because of ongoing discussions with a publisher (it is heavily rumoured that this publisher is Amazon Game Studios). It appears that they have delayed the game so that preparations can be made and still launch worldwide simultaneously. Again though, this is unconfirmed.

The game is likely on UE4 or UE5. The server capacity seems to be 3000 to 5000 players. The current plans for release are in the first half of 2023, the game was delayed to find a Western Publisher. It is being developed for PC and Console.
