PoE Slam Skill, Slams 3.11 Harvest

As part of two-handed weapon improvements, several melee skills have been recategorised as slams. PoE Harvest league introduces a new slam skill and support gem. GGG has also revamped several existing slams with new visual effects, improved functionality, and greater power for two-handed weapon users.

Fist of War Support

PoE 3.11 revealed the new Fist of War Support Fist of War Support that works with all slams except Vaal Slams and Ancestral Warchief Ancestral Warchief. Every few seconds an ancestor appears above your character and performs your slam in unison with you, creating a supercharged slam dealing much more damage with an increased Area of Effect.

It supports slam skills, providing a powerful boost when they’re used, with a delay before they can be boosted again. Cannot support Vaal skills or triggered skills. Cannot modify the skills of minions. Only skills you use yourself can receive the boost. The following slam skills can be used with the Fist of War support.

Ancestral Warchief

Vaal Ancestral Warchief

Vaal Ancestral Warchief Vaal Ancestral Warchief is a Vaal skill gem. It functions much the same as Ancestral Warchief Ancestral Warchief, but deals more damage, in a cascade, and has the ability to leap towards enemies that are out of range.

Summons an Ancestor Totem which attacks enemies with a powerful cascading slam while you’re near it. If the enemies are far away, it will leap toward them as it slams. Being near it grants you more melee damage.

Consecrated Path

Consecrated Path Consecrated Path is a attack skill where the user strikes the ground to deal physical damage converted to fire damage around the user and create consecrated ground. When targeting distant enemies, the user will teleport to the target.

Slams the ground at a targeted location. If an enemy is near where you target, you’ll teleport to it from a short distance away, slam, and create an area of consecrated ground. Can’t be supported by Multistrike, and requires a Sword, Axe, Mace, Sceptre, Staff or Unarmed.

Doryani’s Touch

Doryani’s Touch is a slam skill(from the Doryani’s Fist unique item). Doryani’s Fist grants level 20 Doryani’s Touch. Doryani’s Touch will be supported by any applicable support gems socketed into Doryani’s Fist; it is not necessary to have the sockets be linked together.

Earthshatter

Earthshatter Earthshatter slams the ground, sending out rectangular fissures that deal area damage to enemies and thrust a spike from the ground when they end. Warcries or other Slam Attacks performed by you or allied players near any spike will cause them to shatter, damaging surrounding enemies. Works with Maces, Sceptres, Axes, Staves and Unarmed.

Earthshatter Earthshatter is a new level 12 slam attack that sends out five damaging fissures in all directions when you slam the ground. At the end of each fissure, a spike bursts from the ground and remains for a short time. If these spikes are in the area of another Slam or Warcry used by you or an allied player, the spikes will explode, dealing damage in an area around them. The range of the fissures combined with the area of the exploding spikes ends up spreading damage over a large area, with explosions overlapping near the location you slammed.

You can alternate between slamming with Earthshatter Earthshatter and using a Warcry, letting you kill enemies around you by detonating your spikes while simultaneously preparing to exert your next use of the skill. You can also easily Leap Slam Leap Slam onto your spikes to trigger them while you move. Any exploding spike can detonate other spikes near it, so you can leave a trail of spikes with repeated slams then set them off by leaping onto one of them.

New and Changed Slam Skills in Path of Exile: Harvest

Perforate

Perforate Perforate is an attack skill where the user strikes the ground to launch multiple spikes from the ground that deal area of effect damage. This skill interacts with Blood and Sand Blood and Sand Stance, launching multiple spikes in a small area in Blood Stance and launching the spikes outwards in Sand Stance.

Smash the ground to bring forth multiple spears to damage enemies. When in Blood Stance, multiple spikes burst from the ground in sequence, able to hit enemies multiple times. In Sand Stance, the spikes are thrust outwards. Requires a Sword or Axe. You are in Blood Stance by default.

Perforate

Perforate 3.11 Changes

Perforate Perforate now provides flat physical damage that scales as the gem levels. The distribution of its spikes in Blood Stance has been made more consistent. A higher percentage of its spikes should hit a small target and investment in Area of Effect and/or the number of spikes should keep this percentage of spikes hitting consistent.

Sand Stance’s base area starts off slightly smaller but increases as the gem levels. Perforate Perforate also provides one additional spike at all levels and also grants two additional spikes if you’ve changed stance recently.

The issue with Perforate Perforate in the past was that in Sand Stance, there were large gaps between Spikes which meant that enemies within those gaps would be missed. The extra spikes it now provides and additional Area of Effect vastly improve the number of targets that can be hit by a single Slam.

In Blood Stance, increased Area of Effect used to result in a loss to single target damage and the extra Spikes from the Perforate Perforate enchantment would be placed outside of the range of most small enemies and therefore wouldn’t contribute any damage to single targets.

These changes to Perforate Perforate improve its ability to hit enemies more reliably and with a better spread of damage.

Sunder

Sunder Sunder is a melee attack creating a wave that travels forward and damages enemies in a straight line. Enemies hit by the wave release circular shock waves that further damage nearby enemies. Requires an axe, mace or staff.

Slams the ground with a Mace, Sceptre, Axe or Staff, creating a wave of broken ground that damages enemies in an area in front of you. Enemies hit by the wave will release a circular shockwave, dealing damage to other enemies around them. Using the skill again will stop the previous wave. Requires a Mace, Sceptre, Axe, Staff or Unarmed.

Sunder 3.11 Changes

As part of our effort to encourage slower and heavier-hitting Slams, Sunder Sunder has become a much wider and longer but slower cascade. Using Sunder Sunder while one cascade is still in motion will cause the existing cascade to end prematurely. These cascades will always travel a minimum length, so you can still use Sunder Sunder effectively with Multistrike and fast hitting weapons when close to enemies.

It still releases Shockwaves which can overlap when they hit enemies. Leveling the gem no longer scales its radius but instead scales its Area of Effect. Overall it now provides a better Area of Effect for slower hitting weapons.

Tectonic Slam

Tectonic Slam Tectonic Slam is an attack skill that slams the ground in front of the player, dealing area of effect damage in a cone. Each attack has a chance to consume an endurance charge to deal more damage and gain a larger AoE.

Slam the ground, unleashing a fiery fissure in front of you, dealing area damage and releasing a random number of smaller fissures branching off from it. Can consume an Endurance Charge to perform a Charged Slam, covering a greater area with more branching fissures. Requires a Mace, Sceptre, Sword, Axe, Staff, or Unarmed.

Tag: Fire, Attack, AoE, Slam, Melee

Tectonic Slam 3.11 Changes

Tectonic Slam Tectonic Slam has received an impressive new visual effect and no longer uses ‘charged slams’; it instead counts Endurance Charges to grant more Area of Effect and additional damaging cracks in the ground. This improves the reward for investing in Endurance Charges by providing both a larger and more consistent Area of Effect. It now consumes an Endurance Charge every three Slams, rather than at a random 35% chance. The additional cracks that Endurance Charges generate can spread out further from the base impact and are more deterministic.

Enchantments that previously granted a chance for a Charged Slam now grant an additional chance for cracks.
