PoE Awakener’s Orb Crafting Guide

Awakener's Orb

When an Awakener's Orb is applied and the recipient item has a Crucible tree, does the output item keep that tree? Or does it do something else? What about when an Awakener's Orb is applied and the recipient item has no Crucible tree, does the output item also have no tree, or does it take on the tree of the donor item?

The recipient item's tree is kept and the destroyed item's tree is lost forever.

1. The two items must be of the same item type

Item Type category: Amulets, Rings, Claws, Daggers, Wands, One Hand Swords, Thrusting One Hand Swords, One Hand Axes, One Hand Maces, Bows, Staves, Two Hand Swords, Two Hand Axes, Two Hand Maces, Quivers, Belts, Gloves, Boots, Body Armours, Helmets, Shields, Sceptres, Fishing Rods, Rune Daggers, Warstaves.

For example, Pain Wrap Sleek Coat is a body armour. Damnation Cloak AssAssin’s Grab is a body armour as well. Therefore, they have the same item type.

2. The two items must be with different influences

The two items must have different influences. After having used Awakener’s Orb Awakener’s Orb, the target item is crafted with both influence types. As the image example is shown above, the donor item Pain Wrap has Crusader influence(red glow), and the second item Damnation Cloak has a Hunter influence(green glow). The result has 2 influence types: Crusader influence and Hunter influence.

There are totally 6 different types of influences:

Influenced item Drops How to get Recognize Prefix Suffix
Crusader item Baran, the Crusader It can be crafted by using Crusader’s Exalted Orb Crusader’s Exalted Orb Red glow Crusader’s of the Crusade
Warlord item Drox, the Warlord It can be crafted by using Warlord’s Exalted Orb Warlord’s Exalted Orb Yellow glow Warlord’s of the Conquest

Elder item Elder-influenced maps or dropped by the Elder (including Uber Elder fight) Elder Scarabs, Delve rewards and Incubators. tentacle background Eldritch of the Elder

3. Awakener’s Orb Item Level

The target item’s base type, item level, sockets, and links are retained.

4. Influence Shown Order

Influence is written/shown in a fixed order from left to right, regardless of the donor/target. In other words, a Warlord item donating into a Crusader item arranges the icons the same as a Crusader item donating into a Warlord item. The influence icon on the item follow the following order: Shaper > Elder > Crusader > Redeemer > Hunter > Warlord.

5. One signature mod is guaranteed

One signature mod (such as a “Shaper’s” prefix, or an “Of the Elder” suffix) from each item is guaranteed to merge on the new item, except the case that the two mods are from the same mod group (see paragraph below). The retained mods can be both prefixes, suffixes, or a combination. If an item has two or more signature mods, one will be selected at random during the merging process.

Notably, some mods (such as Elder and Redeemer Flasks applied to you have #% increased Effect, Shaper and Redeemer x% reduced Mana Reserved, etc.) are mutually exclusive and one will be discarded at random. This exclusivity rule appears to depend on the ModGroup attribute found on datamined websites such as poedb.tw and POE wiki (e.g. all curse on hit explicit mods on the ring are in group “CurseOnHitLevel” as shown in their wiki articles or the mod entries in the wiki that start with Modifier prefix), where the two merged mods cannot share the same ModGroup. It is unclear whether additional, non-ModGroup exclusivity rules exist as this information is not available within the game client.

  • Physical Damage taken as Chaos/Fire/Cold/Lightning modifiers are now mutually exclusive.
  • Curse on Hit modifiers (found on rings) are now mutually exclusive. This does not include ones obtained via item corruption.
  • Due to the changes, player no longer able to craft item with two curses on hit explicit mods, nor Physical Damage taken as elemental damages mods using Awakener’s Orb or any dual influence base
