FFXIV What is Gil Used for?

Gil (ギル, Giru), also translated as GPGold, and G, is the currency in all of the Final Fantasygames. It is acquired throughout the games and used for making various purchases and occasionally for some abilities such as Gil Toss.

Gil is the current standardized currency of Eorzea. It can be obtained by players by completing quests and levequests, defeating certain enemies, or selling various items to NPCs or on the Market Boards. The symbol representing Gil in text appears to be a mixture of an inverted G and a P, perhaps a reference to the abbreviation “GP” sometimes used in the franchise. Though the appearance of gil coins can vary by mint (and likely by denomination) the face on the coin icon in the User Interface is that of Nymeia, the Spinner, Goddess of Fate.

The usage of FFXIV Gil

glamour and minions. Also check your description. You’re asking what we spend our girl on. Very strange lesbian ERP involving bdsm, Pentamelds, GLAMOURS and minions.

Besides casual gil sinks like teleporting and repairing, most of the day-to-day expenditure is food/pots (easily 50k – 100k a night if using pots every pull). The main raider gil sink is every 6 months you’re looking at 10m – 20m gearing up week 1 from materia and crafting costs.

If you don’t have that 10 – 20m gil sink bi-yearly, well, gil is basically useless to you from an efficiency standpoint. You can get glamour items but those always drop over time to reasonable levels. You can get crafter stuff but that’s basically just spending gil to make gil to do nothing with it (not knocking crafters by any means but it’s not really a use for gil if you’re just doing it to make gil, right?).

This game’s bad about gil.

Lore

Today, the currency commonly known as FFXIV Gil was adopted by the city-state of Eorzea about 100 years ago as a means of strengthening trade relations after the autumn war. Prior to that, each city country had minted and regulated its own currency, which led to unpredictable exchange rates and prompted many traders to use the old allagan coins instead of other coins. Aware of the wisdom of this approach (and the desire for greater control of the money supply), Eorzea’s leaders announced the creation of a new Gil and further ordered its value to be standardized in all countries. In addition, to help encourage adoption, it is designed in the image of its predecessor.

Initially, in order to express solidarity, these coins will bear the image of “twelve”, rather than the image of the beloved individual of a single country. As time went on, Gil became more prominent, policy relaxed, and the number of designs on the coins increased. Those forged in memory of the reform of the eorzean alliance are a famous example in recent years.

How to Use Gil in FFXIV?

Gil is a metric currency, measured in base ten. Beyond this, the exact value of gil varies between games. For example, in Final Fantasy IV Potion costs 30 gil, while they cost 250 gil in Final Fantasy VI and 100 gil in Final Fantasy VII. Some items, such as Elixirs, have low sale prices, usually only 1 gil, meant to discourage the player from selling such rare items. The value of items between individual shops and towns is universal for most games, and items do not change in pricing depending on where the player shops. There are a handful of exceptions to this, allowing the player to earn discounts at some stores, but this is rare.

Gil has many other uses, such as the Gil Toss ability, which allows the player to damage enemies by throwing money at them. Gil Toss often does great damage, but at the obvious drawback of costing a great deal of gil. In Final Fantasy X and Final Fantasy X-2, gil can be used to bribe monsters to leave the battle as well as entice Yojimbo into attacking enemies. In Final Fantasy XII, the Turtleshell Choker accessory allows the equipped party member to cast spells using gil instead of MP.

In Final Fantasy VII, gil and GP are treated as separate currencies. At the Gold Saucer amusement park, GP is used to pay for many attractions, while others charge gil. GP is also used to buy items from the park. GP cannot usually be exchanged with gil, but a man randomly appears outside the park who sells the player GP for 100 gil apiece. Otherwise, GP can only be acquired by winning the Saucer’s minigames.
