Cluster Jewel Guide: Vendor Recipes, Notables, Crafting

Cluster Jewels are a class of jewels that can be socketed in the outermost sockets of the passive skill tree. These jewels extend the skill tree by creating new clusters of nodes, which can contain basic nodes, notable skills, and even keystones. They can also create more jewel sockets which can support smaller cluster jewels.

In the Harvest league, there is a significant change to Medium and Large Cluster Jewels. Any new Medium and Large Cluster Jewels will come with an additional enchantment that states they have one Jewel socket and two Jewel sockets respectively. The Jewel socket modifiers will no longer be rollable suffixes. As a result of this, the chance for rolling notables will be slightly increased. This change also means that although having three notables is the optimal outcome, having two notables will always be useful as you'll be pathing through them to get to the sockets.

  • The result will have the lowest item level of all components.
  • When I should use this recipe? The number of passive skills added by the jewel and the effect of the small nodes are both enchantments(they are shown in white text), not implicit mods. This means that they cannot be rerolled with Blessed Orbs Blessed Orbs, and will not be overwritten if you add a corruption-exclusive implicit mod to the jewel. You can only use the above vendor recipe to re-roll it. The new jewel will have new enchantments and new explicit modifiers.
  • Both Normal Cluster Jewels and Unique Cluster Jewels have not this “5 to 1 vendor recipes.” For example, If vendor 5 normal Large Cluster Jewels, you can only get a Scroll of Wisdom Scroll of Wisdom.
  • The explicit modifiers of Cluster Jewels((they are shown in blue text) can be crafted using all of the same methods that you’re used to using with other Path of Exile items. Like other jewels, they can have up to two prefixes and two suffixes.

The Cluster Jewel recipe is actually a standard PoE vendor recipe:

The following is an example. Vendor 5 magic Large Cluster Jewels in exchange for a Mystery Box. It contains a new magic Large Cluster Jewel. The item level of 5 jewels is 64, 67, 62, 64, 65. The resulting jewel item level is 62. The resulting jewel has new enchantments and new modifiers.

Cluster Jewel Recipe

The following are two failed examples. In example one, vendor 5 normal Large Cluster Jewels in exchange for a Scroll of Wisdom. In example two, vendor 3 normal Large Cluster Jewels, 1 magic Large Cluster Jewels, and 1 rare Large Cluster Jewels, the result is an Orb of Chance and 2 Scroll Fragments.

Cluster Jewel 3.13 Changes

Note that all of the following changes affect all existing Cluster Jewels with these passive skills.

  1. The Cluster Jewel notables Numbing Elixir and Flexible Sentry both now grant reduced effect of Shock and Chill on you, rather than reduced effect of non-damaging Ailments on you. All existing items with these notables are affected.
  2. The Cluster Jewel notable Heraldry now applies its Exposure effects in a radius of 30 units (from 60).
  3. The Cluster Jewel notable Stalwart Commander now grants 20% increased Aura Effect for Determination, Grace and Discipline (from 30%).
  4. The Cluster Jewel notable Rotten Claws now causes minions to have a 12% chance to Impale on Hit with Attacks (from 20%).
  5. The Cluster Jewel notable Renewal now grants your minions a 5% chance to deal Double Damage while they are on Full Life (from 10%).
  6. The Cluster Jewel notable First Among Equals now grants 8% increased effect of Non-Curse Auras from your Skills (from 10%).
  7. The small Cluster Jewel passive skills that grant increased effect of non-Curse Auras from your skills now grant 3% (from 6%).
  8. The small Cluster Jewel passive skills that grant increased effect of your Curses now grant 3% (from 5%).

Cluster Jewels Guide

Cluster Jewels are a class of jewels that can be only placed in the outermost sockets of your Passive Skill Tree. These jewels expand your passive tree by creating new clusters of nodes, which can contain basic nodes, notable skills, and even keystones. Many of these jewels also create more jewel sockets which means you can branch quite far outside your tree if you want to heavily invest in these passives.

1. Cluster Jewels Mods Explained

It's worth noting that the number of passive skills added by the jewel and the effect of the small nodes are both enchantments, not implicit mods. The first enchantment determines how many passive skills are in the cluster, and the second enchantment determines what bonuses the passives in the jewel gives.

Cluster jewels can be crafted to modify their mods by using common currency items. Like other jewels, they can have up to two prefixes and two suffixes. The explicit mods will either modify or add bonuses to the small passives or add a notable skill or jewel sockets to the cluster.

Using the 5 to 1 cluster jewel recipe will re-roll both enchantments and explicit modifiers.

The item level of Cluster Jewel does affect the mods it can roll, but only for those affixes that affect the small passives and number of jewel sockets. There are no item level requirements for all notable-granting affixes.

4. How can I get Cluster Jewels?

Cluster Jewels can be dropped from any monster affected by the Delirium Fog. In theory, they can start dropping as early as Act 1. Unlike other jewels, normal rarity Cluster Jewels can be also dropped.

5. Passive Points and Respec Points

Passives added via cluster jewels cost passive points as other normal passives. The passive points spent on the Cluster Jewel passives can be refunded by simply unsocketing the jewel, which refunds all passive points spent on that jewel's cluster. However, if a jewel socket or Keystone passive has been allocated, it will cost 1 refund point to unsocket it.
