This is a Support Gem. It does not grant a bonus to your character, but to skills in sockets connected to it. Place into an item socket connected to a socket containing the Active Skill Gem you wish to augment. Right click to remove from a socket.

Vicious Projectiles is a support gem. Projectile attack skill gems linked to this support gem deal more physical damage and physical and chaos damage over time, but suffer an attack speed reduction.

Skill functions and interactions

Although the gem itself requires the skill to have a projectile and attack tag to support a skill, the Chaos and Physical Damage over Time Multipliers do not specify that the Damage over Time must originate from a projectile. This can be used in a few niche situations where either a skill has distinct melee weapon/ranged weapon animation variations e.g. Frenzy, Puncture, and Elemental Hit - or when a skill is considered a melee skill (therefore not projectile) but has a projectile component e.g. Molten Strike, Lightning Strike, Frost Blades, and Wild Strike. In both situations, Poison, Decay, or Bleeding will all benefit from the damage multiplier without suffering an attack speed loss.
