Orb of Alchemy Guide

Orb of Alchemy upgrades a normal item to a rare item. The resulting rare has randomly chosen affixes and has a random number of affixes (ranging from four to six [three to four if used on jewels]). It does not change the socket color or socket numbers.

PoE Orb of Alchemy Farming

1. Orb of Alchemy Recipe Easy

Pick up every unique item and vendor for Alchemy Shards. 20 Alchemy Shards combine to an Orb of Alchemy automatically. This is the easy vendor recipe for the Orb of Alchemy. The reason is most of the unique items have the mods that can vendor for Alchemy Shards.

2. Farming Alchemy Orb by slain monsters

The drop level of Orb of Alchemy is 2 and the drop rate is around 2.754%. You can farm it by killing enemies, opening chests, and destroying destructible containers. They also drop from Arcanist’s Strongboxes.

3. Purchase from vendor: Clarissa

• 1x Orb of Alchemy = 1x Orb of Regret

Clarissa is an NPC in Act 3 and Act 8. She sells it with the cost of an Orb of Regret.

4. Trade currency for Orb of Alchemy

You can exchange currency items for Orb of Alchemy. The price of an Orb of Alchemy is equal to either a Chromatic Orb, or 1/9 Chaos Orb, or 1/1584 Exalted Orb. The ratio of Orb of Alchemy to Chaos Orb is 9:1. These orbs are both crucial to players when leveling up one’s character. Orb of alchemy upgrades a normal item into a rare item, while Chaos Orb reforged a rare item with new random mods.

How to use Orb of Alchemy

1. Upgrading a normal item to a rare item

While leveling your character, Orbs of Alchemy are often used to upgrade a normal item to a rare item.

• It adds more mods to the new rare item.
• It does not change the socket color or socket numbers.

2. Orb of Alchemy on Maps

• Many players sell low-tier maps for Orb of Alchemy and high-tier maps of Chaos Orb.
• Using Orb of Alchemy upgrade a normal map to a rare map. The map will have up to six affixes, one can take advantage of the large item quantity bonus.

3. Purchase items from vendor or other players

You can use Orb of Alchemy to buy various items from vendors or other Path of Exile players, including maps, skill gems, and rare items, etc.

4. Crafting bench recipes

A lot of crafting bench recipes require Orbs of Alchemy.

Orb of Alchemy vs Orb of Chance

Orb of Chance upgrades an item randomly. The new item may be a Magic, a Rare, or even a Unique. In fact, the most commonly will be resulting in a Magic item, uncommonly a Rare item. However, Orb of Alchemy upgrades a normal item to a Rare item with 100% guaranteed. The price of an Orb of Chance is approximate to an Orb of Alchemy.
