PoE Enlighten Support Gem Leveling

Enlighten is a support gem that used to decrease the amount of mana reservation of linked skill. The effect is multiplicative with the effects of x% Reduced Mana Reservation modifiers. Enlighten gem supports any skill gem. A level 1 Enlighten has no effect. When the level reaches 2, it has a 96% Mana Multiplier that reduce 4% mana reservation.

From PoE 3.18, you can no longer obtain Level 2 and higher versions of the Empower, Enhance and Enlighten Support Gems from league rewards. Level 4 versions can still be obtained from corruption and specific Divination Cards.

1. Enlighten Leveling Fast: increased experience gain

In order to level up fast, you can increase its quality. Per 1% Quality: Enlighten gem gains a 5% increased Experience.

(1) Gemcutter's Prism. Each Gemcutter's Prism will always raise the quality of a gem by 1%. The maximum quality is 20% and gives a 100% faster experience bonuses.

(2) Haku's Weapon. It has the "+7% to Quality of Socketed Gems" modifier. It gives Enlighten gems a 35% faster experience gain.

(20% quality + 7% quality) * 5 % increased Experience per quality = 135% increased Experience.

To sum up, 135% fast leveling Enlighten: Equip a +7% quality Haku's weapon, quality the gem to 20%, and grind some maps.

Increase experience gain tips

• Socketed gems gain 10% of the experience your character earns, calculated before any level penalties.
• The number of gems you have equipped has no effect on the rate of experience gain.
• Gems do not lose experience when you die.
• Items with +experience% gain do affect gems.
• Gems socketed in inactive weapon slots do gain experience.
• Gems may be traded like normal items and they will retain their experience.

Enlighten Support Level 4

Normally, you can upgrade Enlighten to level 3. By using Vaal Orb, you have the chance to corrupt the gem to level 4. There are these possibilities:

• No effect (other than adding the corrupted property).
• Add or subtract one level. Max level gems can exceed their normal maximum this way. A corrupted gem at the normal maximum will not continue to gain experience.
• Add or subtract 1-10 quality. Gems can have up to 23% quality this way.

Though Enlighten can also be used to decrease the mana cost of linked active skills, Inspiration Support is generally better (and more cost effective) for that purpose. However, it is a valid option for some skills that cost Life, Energy Shield, or Rage instead.
