Crimson Watchstone is an Atlas region upgrade item. Socket this into a Citadel on your Atlas to increase the Tier of Maps and reveal hidden Maps in that Citadel's Region. You can only socket one Crimson, Viridian, Cobalt or Golden Watchstone into each Citadel.
Crimson Watchstone are tied to the region of the Atlas. Each region only drop one Crimson Watchstone.
The first watchstone requires to follow the questline:
Then,it will spawn Baran in the corner region of the Atlas.
The second watchstone requires to spawn Baran in a new region, with that region has a watchstone socketed, and so on.
|Start||Complete The Elderslayers|
|Objective||Kirac's brother Baran has been driven insane and is lurking in the Atlas. Search Maps in the corner Regions of the Atlas to find and defeat him.|
|Completion||Defeat Baran in a region with four Watchstones slotted|
Open a map that's in in one of the corner regions of the Atlas. The first time you do, Baran will appear and taunt the player, adding his influence within the map region. Repeat this two more times, then talk to Kirac. He will show the location of the Citadel in the region, then talk to Zana to open six portals into Baran's Citadel. After defeating the map boss, go into the portal and defeat Baran, the Crusader.
To spawn the Conqueror again, open a map in a region with one Watchstone slotted with a map of the appropriate tier (as long as their corresponding Watchstone hasn't been found yet for that region). Find their Citadel again by running maps within the region they're influencing two more times, then repeat the process of entering their Citadel and defeating them. Repeat this process with another Watchstone. After the fifth time, the Conqueror will be defeated, completing the quest. They will not appear again until you have challenged Sirus.
By inserting the Watchstones into the altar of the citadel of a region, Map Tier will be increased. For example Beach Map has tiers 1, 4, 8, 10 and 14 depends on how many Watchstones inserted in that region. Unique Watchstones provides additional modifier to the Atlas.
Moreover, if a full set of Watchstones (4 different colours, can be Watchstones that obtained from different regions) is inserted into one region, the Awakening Level of the Atlas will be increased by 1. Since there is 8 sets of Watchstones , the highest possible level of the Awakening Level will be 8.

The Atlas is divided into 8 regions. Each region of the Atlas has 4 Watchstones in different colours, corresponding to 4 bosses:
|Al-Hezmin, the Hunter||Green||Viridian Watchstone|
|Baran, the Crusader||Red||Crimson Watchstone|
|Drox, the Warlord||Yellow||Golden Watchstone|
|Veritania, the Redeemer||Blue||Cobalt Watchstone|
Players are required to beat the bosses in their citadels of that region in order to acquire the Watchstones. However, if the Watchstone of that region was acquired already, beating the same boss again will not give the second copy of the Watchstone of that region.
Additionally, the final end-game boss, Sirus, Awakener of Worlds, drops unique Ivory Watchstone.
