  2. The first time you do, Baran will appear and taunt the player, adding his influence within the map region.
  3. Repeat this two more times, then talk to Kirac. He will show the location of the Citadel in the region.
  4. Talk to Zana to open six portals into Baran’s Citadel.
  5. After defeating the map boss, go into the portal and defeat Baran, the Crusader.

Baran Damage Type

Baran’s arena is segmented into 4×4 squares, which are used for his Manarune attack.

  • Default melee attack
  • Fires three bolts of lightning that hit in a small area, then explode. Damage is dealt both when first fired and on explosion. These bolts can overlap, and are extremely deadly to most builds.
  • Fires multiple lightning bolts in a scattered pattern. Same as the previous attack, but must less deadly since they are much less likely to overlap.
  • Briefly charges up and slams his sceptre in front of him, dealing massive physical damage. The sceptre releases lightning projectiles in a spread pattern.
  • Manarunes: After a very lengthy charge up, Baran creates Manarunes in your current location in a cross pattern. They will be placed in squares of his arena. They last a long time before disappearing, and at higher levels Baran can have more than one cross pattern of Manarunes active. Manarunes deal damage over time and degenerate mana. When stepped on, they will also detonate after a delay to deal lightning damage and shock the player.

Conquerors of the Atlas

When exploring a map, there is a chance that one of the Conquerors of the Atlas, Al-Hezmin, the Hunter, Veritania, the Redeemer, Drox, the Warlord, and Baran, the Crusader, appears and spreads influence over the Atlas region. Whenever a Conqueror appears in a map, they will occupy the Atlas region and add packs of special influenced monsters to the map whenever they appear. After their third appearance, you can speak to Officer Kirac to locate their Citadel, then talk to Zana to open a portal to their Citadel, a normal map within the Atlas region. Once you defeat the Citadel’s map boss, a portal leading to the Conqueror’s arena opens up, where you can fight the Conqueror themselves. Each Conqueror will drop a Watchstone on defeat, which you can slot in a Citadel to upgrade all maps within the region to higher tiers and possibly reveal new ones.

Influenced monsters and the Conquerors have a chance to drop Influenced items, special item bases which can roll mods unavailable to regular items.

When you have a Conqueror's Citadel ready to go, speaking to Zana will open the Map Device interface with a map containing the Conqueror's Citadel already placed in the first slot. Currency can be applied to these maps in the same way as a regular map, and adding fragments or scarabs alongside the map will enhance the map further. Item Quantity will only increase the amount of rewards dropped by the Conqueror by 20% of its total value.
