The main keyword of Ancient Skull is Minions. If your main skill is around minions, then Ancient Skull is one of the best choices. It increases up to 20% minions' damage and 25% minions' movement speed. However, it reduces up to 40% of the minions' maximum life.

Mechanics

  • Whispers: Minions which hear the whispers take 20% of their maximum life as chaos damage per second, have 50% increased attack speed and damage, and do not listen to you
  • "Do not listen to you" means Convocation no longer works and the minion will not follow you. It also presumably means the minion no longer attacks who you attack and the behaviors applied by Meat Shield Support, Predator Support, and Feeding Frenzy Support are no longer applicable (or it leaves them aggressive). Minions do appear to still teleport to the player if they get too far though, likely since they would otherwise get out of render and never die.
