Anger Support Gems Build

These support gems will affect Anger auras:

• Blood Magic Support – This will cause linked auras to reserve health instead of mana, but increase the cost by the mana multiplier. Note that “reduced mana cost” from increases in quality have no effect on mana reservation.
• Spell Totem Support – Casts a totem which will maintain the aura. The cost to cast the totem is the mana that would be reserved multiplied by the Mana Cost Multiplier of the Totem support and any other linked support gems.
• Generosity Support – Increases the effect of the non-curse auras on allies (including minions) but prevents them from affecting the player.
• Increased Area of Effect Support – Further increases the Area of Effect of the Aura, but increases the Mana reservation by the gem’s multiplier.
• Concentrated Effect Support – Lessens area of effect and applies the mana cost mulitplier, but does not provide a bonus to aura damage, as auras cannot directly cause damage. An exception would be the aura from  Death’s Oath.
• Enlighten Support – Reduces the mana reserved of the aura by the amount of the mana multiplier.
• Empower Support – Adds levels to supported auras, but increases their cost by the mana multiplier.
• Enhance Support – Increases the quality of the gem, granting increased area of effect, but at increased mana cost.

Note that Inspiration Support does not affect reservation, but does affect auras supported by Spell Totem Support.

Anger VS Hatred

Anger adds fire damage to the attacks and spells of the caster and their allies. While Hatred provides extra cold damage based on the physical damage of the caster and their allies and more cold damage.

Because Hatred gives a percentage bonus, it is generally better than  Anger or  Wrath of the same level, unless the recipient of the aura deals more raw (unconverted) chaos damage such as  Caustic Arrow or elemental damage such as  Arc. However, because of the slow increases in the percentage on a per level basis, it is more efficient to slot Anger or Wrath on a +2 to Aura Gems provided by equipment such as  Alpha’s Howl. For example, at level 20, Hatred provides 36% of damage as cold damage, while at 22, it provides 37%, for a gain of 1%. Anger, at level 20, gives a flat average of 109.5 fire damage, and at level 22, an average of 126.5 damage, for a gain of 17 average damage. So, assuming similar resistances, Hatred would need to be applied on a physical damage of 1700 to beat out Anger. It is better to slot Hatred elsewhere, and save the +2 slots for the more “efficient” Anger and Wrath, if all three auras are being run.
