Minion Instability is a keystone passive skill. It causes minions to explode when reduced to low life, dealing 33% of their maximum life as fire damage to nearby enemies.
Low life is a condition that applies when life falls below 35%. The explosions is not melee damage and is not affected by melee damage modifiers. The base explosion radius is 22 units. |
Passives that increase your minion’s damage and/or health can increase the damage of the explosion.
The explosion from Minion Instability is considered Minion Damage, and will be increased by the following gems::
Note: Minions never benefit from your passives or equipment unless specifically stated.
Totems allies are not considered to be minions, and are therefore not affected by minion-specific modifiers such as increased Minion Damage and Minion Instability.
Minions must be alive with low life for the explosion to work. Anything that causes a minion to die without ever having low life will not cause an explosion.
Dark Pact can be used to forcibly lower the life of your Skeleton minions to low life. Doing so will trigger the effect of the Keystone passive Minion Instability. Using Spell Echo Support can effectively speed up the rate at which skeleton life is removed, in order to trigger this effect faster.
When linked with a skill that creates a minion, trap, mine, or totem, the item quantity modifier will apply to kills made by the minion/trap/mine/totem. This includes deaths caused by Minion Instability explosions.
The cold damage will be added to hits made by any attack skill or spell that hits, or hits made by things such as the area damage explosions from Fireball, Detonate Dead, or Minion Instability. The cold damage will not be added to damage that is not part of a “hit”, such as the Bleeding caused by Puncture, or the Chaos Damage per second from being Poisoned by Caustic Arrow or Viper Strike. The cold damage will however be added to the weapon hits from Puncture, Caustic Arrow, Viper Strike, and any other skill that hits.
Minion Instability is located at the top left of the skill tree, next to the Cluster Jewel socket cluster.
