Gil is the standard currency in Final Fantasy XIV. It is acquired throughout the games and used for making various purchases from shops and from the market board. Occasionally, it is used for some abilities such as Gil Toss. FFXIV Gil can be traded between players via the Marketboard or mail.

FFXIV Gil cap is 999,999,999 Gil and any Gil exceeding this limit will be lost.

FFXIV Gil Farming 2019

FFXIV Gil making is easy when it builds up. Things you do regularly can net you a lot of Gil if you play consistently. I would not recommend crafting, because leveling up an Omni crafter is time and money consuming. The gathering I would only recommend if you want to level up and only earn Gil on the side. Otherwise, it gets tedious pretty quick. Some easy ways to make money through the following farming guide.

(1) Roulettes

A slow way to gain some money but also levels your character would be doing leveling roulettes. Run daily roulettes, get a cracked cluster, get and sell red grade VI materia. Especially as a PLD, WAR or DRK. You don’t have to do them all every day but even doing a trial gives you 10,500 Gil outright and if you’re going like a tank then you get a slight bonus on top of that.

(2) Selling items through Market Boards

Pick a decent gathering class, check what the Market Boards says(I find actually a lot of lumber sells well from botany, since those are used a lot in furnishings). Spend some time analyzing it and look for “weak spots” that you can fill. Meaning look for something that isn’t being sold or not being sold much. Look at how often people are buying it and use common sense to see if its worth gathering materials for and then crafting.

One more thing about the Market Boards: check the history of an item. Sometimes big bomber-items only sell like a couple a week. Which is cool; but you don’t need to put a bunch of those up. I’d pick ‘reliably sells often’.

(3) Level a gathering profession

The easiest way would be to level a gathering profession and sell base materials on the market. Level your gathering classes starting with Miner then Botanist and finally Fisher. Mining even at a low level can be profitable. Plus the beauty of Gathering is you make money from nothing but your time. At max level, you can then turn around and make a million Gil an hour farming Aethersands if you desire. Or just move onto the DoH classes.

(4) Doing Guildleve or Levequests

Guildleves or Levequests are repeatable quests players can perform to earn experience, Gil and items. Unlike regular quests, which can only be performed once per character, levequests can be performed again and again as long as the player has Leve allowances. Guildleves can be completed individually or as a group.

To start a guildleve, talk to a NPC with under his or her name. After accepting it, guildleve appears in your Journal. Players can initiate the levequest from their journal. Players gain 3 Levequest allowances every 12 hours, earth time. Leve allowances stack up to 100.

(5) Run dungeons

Run dungeons for mendacity/poetics, exchange for crafting mats/grade III soil respectively.

(6) Quick ventures

Quick Ventures are gambles but can pay off big time. At a decent level, your retainer could bring back, say, a fish, or two pots of general-purpose white dye, which sell for wow amounts(mine has brought that back a few times in their career.) Send out retainers on quick ventures as much as you can, you can make anywhere from 5k to 1mil per run if you are lucky and depending on your servers. To make the higher end farm dungeon drops that sell for large one your server. Also, try getting drops from higher-end dungeons that are used to make the “Newest” items/barding. It’s hit and miss as to what your retainers bring back but somebody has had them bring back furniture and dyes that sold for a considerable amount of Gil. His record so far is a rug that sold for 6.5 million.

(7) Grand Company

Get some levels in your Grand Company and sell Glamour Prisms. People will always want them, and you put no money into acquiring them (only time from getting items for turn-ins in my case). Pure profit, even if small.

(8) Completing quests

FFXIV Gil can be earned by completing quests, FATEs, duties, and other activities. Doing the Main Scenario quests will help the player gain EXP, Gil, items, an airship ticket, an ability to use the inn room, permission to do Guildleves, visit the Gold Saucer, hire retainers, and be able to join Grand Companies of Eorzea.

(9) Join map parties

Join map parties, sell the loot. You can make a tidy sum without much work, especially if you can gather the maps yourself.

(10) Startup an ERP brothel

Obviously, another way to farm ffxiv gil is to find a friend with a house and start-up an ERP brothel.

(11) Unlock Beast tribes

Unlock Beast tribes for dyes etc. . Buy dye pots for a few hundred and resell for a few thousand Gil.

(12) Run HoH

Run HoH to the top, sell loot (minions, bardings, dodo mount goes for millions). I like HoH better than potd because it’s less floor with better pomanders and better skillkit.

(13) Do Eureka

When you do Eureka bunny chests give pure gil 10-100k Gil too, but idk if you want to torture yourself with that. Probably stick to treasure maps.

(14) Gardening

Gardening is quite lucrative but takes time and housing. If you’re in an FC with a house that isn’t using the garden, request for it. Thavnairian Onion is incredibly valuable – especially since BLU increased how much XP Chocobos were getting.

(15) Newest glam

And the most galaxybrain method is to get the newest glam/hair/mount asap when it comes out and sell it for 500% of the regular prize. But you gotta be fast for that.

(16) Exchange GC Seals

Exchange GC Seals for Glamour Prisms, Borax, and Coke to sell, they’re generally a decent chunk of change for little to no effort, once you unlock the ability to trade old gear for seals.

(17) Selling excess materials

The biggest money maker for me has been clearing out old materia as well. I’ve quit raiding due to time, so having tons of materia isn’t really required. Things like DH, DET, CRIT tend to make a lot of money on my server. Look at materia on your server and then see what sells. Hunts give Crystal Clusters which can be exchanged for Materia.

(18) Completing Challenge Log

The Challenge Log contains a list of adventuring objectives across a wide range of categories. Completing any one of these objectives will earn you rewards such as gil and experience. Additional rewards can be earned for overall completion of the challenge log. Challenges can be performed on a weekly basis. Completion status is reset on a weekly basis on Tuesday at 1:00 a.m. (PDT). Try to complete as many things as possible in challenge log. Gives free Gil (10k+10k etc. for every threshold)

Unlock Challenge Log

Players can unlock the Challenge Log by completing the level 15 quest Rising to the Challenge. Players can start the quest by talking to I’tolwann in Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks (x11,y10). Players must first complete Call of the Sea (Gridania) or Call of the Sea (Limsa Lominsa) or Call of the Sea (Ul’dah). Certain categories will remain locked until the corresponding feature is unlocked (Treasure Hunt, for example)
