Mechanics

  • The downside of -1% Chance to Block Attack Damage for every 200 Fire Damage taken from Hits Recently can be mitigated through damage reduction (e.g. Fortification), Fire Max Res (e.g. Purity of Fire), chance to Avoid Fire Damage when Hit (e.g. Deafening Essence of Anguish), Synthesised rings with -# Fire Damage taken from Hits, or Fire Damage taken as other elements (e.g. Incandescent Heart, Sublime Vision, Divine Flesh).
    • Note that "damage taken as" modifiers only shift damage once; Non-Fire damage taken as Fire cannot then be taken as another element.
  • Scorch Enemies in Close Range when you Block: This shield's Scorch has a baseline of -10% to Elemental Resistances, according to the help text of the item (default keybind: Alt button on PC). This can be overridden by a stronger Scorch from another source.

Dawnbreaker has restrictions on where or how it can drop. It cannot be chanced. Drops from the Searing Exarch.
