Marks are a type of spell skill. They are a subset of curse skills that target single units. Only one Mark can be affecting a target under any circumstance.

Mark on Hit Support Mark on Hit supports mark curse skills. It triggers the supported Mark Skill when you Hit a Rare or Unique Enemy with an Attack.

Burning ground is a detrimental ground effect that deals burning damage (fire damage over time). This effect is not the same as applying the ignite status effect. The amount of damage per second inflicted by burning ground depends on its source.

Caustic Ground is a detrimental ground effect that deals chaos damage over time. The amount of damage per second inflicted by caustic ground depends on its source.

Why is Alchemist's Mark's charge gain so low?

Nick_GGG: Just clarifying that this is one charge per flask and not one charge total!

PoE Alchemist’s Mark Build

Alchemist’s Mark is a new mark skill. Igniting or poisoning the marked target creates burning or caustic ground underneath them, based on the damage of the strongest ignite or poison on the enemy. The damage of the ground effects also scales with curse and mark effect, providing a nonstandard way to scale your build’s damage. Hitting the marked target also refills some of your flask charges.

PoE Alchemist's Mark Build 3.19

This new skill opens up an extra source of damage for ignite or poison focused characters, especially for ignite builds that want an alternative to Flame Surge or poison builds that cause fewer, higher damage poisons. This high level build uses Flame Blast with 100% of the damage converted to chaos to inflict huge poisons on enemies.

When Alchemist Mark is cast on an enemy first, that enemy drops caustic ground when it’s poisoned, scaled by those big Flame Blast poison hits melting everything into a puddle.

Skill Functions and Interactions

  • Elemental Proliferation: Ignites that are proliferated from a nearby enemy or corpse to the marked target will not trigger the burning ground.

Mark Mechanics & Skills

Each character can only place a Mark on one target at any time. This limit is shared between all Mark skills. If you applied a Mark on an enemy and then apply any Mark skill again, the previous Mark will expire.

Marks are considered a curse and and share the curse limit with Hexes. Applying a Hex curse to a Marked target will expire the Mark, and vice versa, unless you have have increased your curse limit. Increased curse limit will still not allow you to place more than one Mark skill on an enemy.

Mark On Hit Support will cause the supported Mark skill to trigger on the Rare or Unique monster you've attacked. Hextouch Support does not support Mark skills.

Since Mark skills can curse only one target, they are more suited for single target. While Unique monsters usually have less Hex effectiveness, this does not diminish the effectiveness of Marks.
