Shadow of the Vaal Guide

Quest Location  The Ancient Pyramid (It is connected to The Caverns)
Start  Talk to Yeena(location: The Forest Encampment, act 2)
Objective  Kill the Vaal Oversoul
Boss  Vaal Oversoul(located on the top floor of the Ancient Pyramid)
Completion  Enter The City of Sarn(Act 3)
Key Item  The Apex(Obtain it by completing Deal with the Bandits quest)

Once you touch the Ancient Seal in the Vaal Ruins, you will initiate this quest. However, until you complete Deal with the Bandits, you will not have the quest. Once you’ve done that, talk to Yeena in the Forest Encampment to receive this quest.

Quest location

The Ancient Pyramid is the final area in Act 2. This area does not have a waypoint and is connected to The Caverns and The City of Sarn.

This area is split into four separate levels with the Vaal Oversoul at the end. The first three levels continue the maze of rooms from the previous area, and since the player is climbing through a pyramid the levels get progressively smaller. The top level is named Pyramid Apex and is a large circular room with the Dark Altar in the center. The boss battle begins when a player with The Apex in their inventory activates the altar.

Shadow of the Vaal walkthrough

1. Trave to The Ancient Pyramid

Travel through The Caverns and reach The Ancient Pyramid.

2. Tavel to Pyramid Apex and activate the Dark Altar

It is located on the highest floor of The Ancient Pyramid. Activate Dark Altar by using The Apex.

3. Kill Vaal Oversoul

Kill the Vaal Oversoul

4. The Pyramid’s exit is now open

After you have killed the Vaal Oversoul, you can enter The City of Sarn and begin Act 3.
