Raise Zombie Raise Zombie is a spell that consumes a corpse to summon an allied zombie minion. Zombies attack using melee attacks and an area of effect slam.

Raises a zombie minion from a corpse, which will follow you and attack enemies with a melee attack and an area of effect slam which cannot be evaded.

Skill functions and interactions

  • Support Gems: Any support gem that would work on a melee attack will be used by the player's zombies' attacks when linked to this gem. In addition to their melee attacks, zombies occasionally use an area of effect slam attack which can be scaled with support gems, area of effect passive skills, and the legacy threshold jewel.
  • Corpse Targeting: Holding down the corpse targeting toggle (defaults to the "a" button) makes it easier to choose a corpse to raise.
  • Zombie Limit: The maximum amount of raised zombies can be increased by passive skills and unique items (see below for more information).
  • Zombie Attack: Despite the tooltip claims the zombie attack is a Slam skill (internal id: ZombieSlam), it cannot be supported by Fist of War, but can be supported by Melee Splash, although Melee Splash can only support melee strike skill according to its gem text. However, since the "ZombieSlam" already has its own AOE, Melee Splash Support may not be the desired choice of support gem. This support gem is included in some Zombie build guide, before the intro of slam and strike gem tags.
The attack can also be supported by other melee support gem such as Multistrike Support. However, in terms of dps there may be other options.

Mods

Amulets can have an influence mod The Elder's to have +1 to maximum number of Raised Zombies. Alternatively, similar mod Subterranean can be found on non-influenced amulets that drop in specific Delve node. Lastly, Undying Flesh Talisman has the implicit +1 to maximum number of Raised Zombies. It is possible to create talisman that have both the implicit and the drop-only Delve explicit, by using Jorgin's crafting bench. But since the game has more than one T1 talisman basetype, it is not guaranteed to acquire the converted amulet as Undying Flesh Talisman base.

In addition, another Delve drop-only mod Subterranean can be found on certain body armour. There are other mods (Chosen or Chosen) on legacy body armour, but they can only be obtained from trading with other players in the permanent leagues. They are in the same mod group "MaximumMinionCount" thus no such +2 Zombie body armour existed.

Jun, Veiled Master can unveil a veiled mod mod for Helmets: Chosen - +1 to maximum number of Raised Zombies, +1 to maximum number of Skeletons, Minions have (8-10)% increased maximum Life (Prefix); the crafted mod equivalent is Chosen - +1 to maximum number of Raised Zombies, +1 to maximum number of Skeletons (Prefix)

By scourging a pair of rare boots (or unique boots if Blood Crucible skill is allocated), there is a chance to acquire +1 to maximum number of Raised Zombies Scourge implicit mod. The scourge mechanic is not yet added to the core game, and there is a randomness / uncertainty on acquiring that mods from boots.

Total

Players can have a maximum of 18 (19 if using talisman, 20 or more with legacy items and/or specific str-stacking build ) zombies at once:

  • 6 from the level 20 skill gem (up to 8 zombies from level 34 gems, but not practical to reach such gem level)
  • 2 from passive skills
  • 1 from a body armour
  • 1 from Jun's veiled mod on helmet
  • 1 from amulet (2 from Eyes of the Greatwolf that has the correct implicit +1 to maximum number of Raised Zombies, which would be doubled due to Eyes of the Greatwolf's explicit mod; or specially crafted talisman listed above)
  • 7 from unique items:
    • 2 from dual wielding Midnight Bargain
    • 5 from The Baron with 2500 Strength (1 zombie for 500 Strength unless using legacy item; 3000 Strength may be reached by some build)
  • Legacy item only: boots with +1 to maximum number of Raised Zombies scourge implicit modifier and with no other detrimental implicit such as - Strength that affect other source of +1 limit. The scourge mechanic is not yet added to the core game after league end.
