Rune words are created by placing a certain set of runes in the correct order in socketed, non-magic items.

The easiest rune word to get might be “TirEl”, which could come fairly early in the game as long as you have both a Tir Rune and an El Rune. Once you have them, buy a non-magic (the item name text must be white or gray) mace, axe, or sword that has exactly two sockets from Charsi or Gheed. Once you have one, place the Tir Rune in the top socket and then place the El Rune in the bottom socket and BAM… you got it.

The El Rune must be found, but the Tir Rune can be created by combining three Eld Runes in the Horadric Cube. Three El Runes combined make an Eld Rune. Note that you need to be playing in Expansion Mode for runes to appear in the first place.
