Cortex is a unique Synthesised Map. The base map has a variable tier but the unique map has a fixed area level (83). The area level override prevents further modification of monster levels, such as from the atlas passive notable Deadly Nightmare. The area level can be overridden by the keystone Memento Mori, which makes the area level is 85 and the map bosses are harder, but drops 3 additional rare synthesised items, each with 3 less common synthesised implicit.

Cortex is not part of the Atlas of Worlds. There is no bonus objective for this map.

This map, however, can be witnessed by the Maven as part of the prerequisites of Maven's Invitation: The Feared.

Despite not on the atlas, this map can still be affected by atlas passive skill that affects Synthesised Map. Note that atlas passive skill cannot affect maps from Kirac's atlas mission.

Modifiers

The map has two pools of map modifiers, one draw from "synthesis global " pool (mod domain = 19), one from "synthesis local" pool (mod domain = 18).

Layout

The area was known as Fractured Laboratory during the initial release (Synthesis league), but known as Cortex in the Memory Nexus Map UI. When this area is re-introduced as unique map in version 3.8, it is known as Cortex only.

The map uses the same tileset as Laboratory Map, Relic Chambers Map and The Reliquary.

Item acquisition

Cortex has restrictions on where or how it can drop. It cannot be chanced. This map can only drop from Tier 11 or higher map bosses. It may also be sold by Kirac or offered as his Atlas Mission.
