Blackflame is a unique Amethyst Ring. It requires Level 49.

Enemies Ignited by you take Chaos Damage instead of Fire Damage from Ignite – This modifier causes enemies that the character ignites to take all damage over time from ignite as chaos damage instead of fire damage. It functions as a “damage taken as” effect, which shifts how the target resists damage. This means that the damage over time inflicted by the character’s ignites is still scaled with the usual modifiers, such as Fire Damage over Time Multiplier, but it is resisted by the enemy’s chaos resistance rather than by their fire resistance
Why don't modifiers to chaos damage affect ignites inflicted with the Blackflame unique ring? Modifiers to fire affect fire DOT, so it would make sense for chaos modifiers to effect a chaos ignite.
Blackflame does not cause ignites to deal chaos damage. It causes enemies to take chaos damage from ignites. The ignite itself is still fire damage, the enemy changes how it takes that damage.
It works like a “damage taken as X” stat. Essentially, your ignites will scale with your own fire/burning damage stats as usual and not with chaos damage stats. However, the monster’s damage taken will be scaled by chaos damage affecting stats like chaos resistance and wither (and not by fire resistance, etc).
This is a new unique Amethyst ring called Blackflame, which is themed around fire and chaos damage. Its headline effect is that your ignites now deal chaos damage, along with a cool new chaos ignited effect on monsters. Also, if you ignite a Withered enemy while wearing Blackflame, the Wither will no longer expire and can build up to its maximum of 15 stacks, if the enemy survives long enough that is.
Along with its various other benefits, this unique ring should “ignite” a few new ways of playing fire and chaos damage characters.
