Elemental Equilibrium

Elemental Equilibrium is a keystone passive skill. It changes the resistance of any monster you hit with elemental damage, increasing resistance to the element you hit with by 25%. However, it reduces other elemental resistances by 50%.

  • Enemies you hit with Elemental Damage temporarily get +25% Resistance to those Elements and -50% Resistance to other Elements

Multiple Elemental Equilibrium strikes will overwrite each other. The effect lasts 5 seconds or until being overwritten.

Elemental damage includes fire damage, lightning damage and cold damage.

Elemental Equilibrium PoE

The Elemental Equilibrium keystone passive skill grants a flat amount (+25%) of resistance to each element you hit with and a resistance penalty (-50%) to each element not present in the hit.

How to trigger Elemental Equilibrium

Only a hit that deals damage will apply these resistance modifiers. Blocked hits or hits with no damage (e.g. while having Ancestral Bond) will not trigger Elemental Equilibrium.

Multiple elements

  • If you hit an enemy with two different elements at the same time it will give -50% Resistance to third element and +25% to both elements used.
  • A hit carrying all three elements types will give +25% to all elemental Resistances.

Trap, Mine, Totem, and Minions

  • Totems/Traps/Mines don’t have their own skills – they’re linked to you and cast your spells, with your stats, just like you would, so they’ll inflict EE if you have it.
  • Minions – No. Minions are completely separate and are doing their own attacks. They don’t have your passive tree.

Multiple hits

Multiple hits are never and cannot be processed “together” in this way. Each hit is an independent event.

Each hit and all its relevant effects are fully processed before moving on to another, no matter how simultaneous they look.

Also, EE calculations aren’t done per cast, they’re done dynamically per hit. The game does calculate default damage output of your skill in advance as that part of calculation is done on character level. However, it doesn’t know in advance how much resist the enemy has, is it affected by curses or shocked, those are done on enemy level so there’s nothing to snapshot.
