Arcane Surge Support PoE Gem

Arcane Surge Support Arcane Surge Support is a support gem that grants the Arcane Surge buff when the total mana spent reaches a threshold.

Each supported spell will track how much mana you spend on it, granting a buff when the total mana spent reaches a threshold. Cannot support skills used by totems, traps, mines or skills with a reservation.

Arcane, Support, Spell, Duration. Level: 1–20. Cost & Reservation Multiplier: 130%. Requires Level 1.

This is a Support Gem. It does not grant a bonus to your character, but to skills in sockets connected to it. Place into an item socket connected to a socket containing the Active Skill Gem you wish to augment. Right click to remove from a socket.

Arcane Surge 3.21

In an effort to have Cast Speed still available early for casters who want to invest into it in their support links, Arcane Surge now grants Cast Speed instead of More Spell Damage. Changes to Hierophant and Ascendant, as well as minor changes to Arcane Surge related passives on the tree, have been made to account for this.

  • Arcane Surge Support no longer causes Arcane Surge to grant more Spell Damage. Instead, it now causes Arcane Surge to grant 10% increased Cast Speed at gem level 1, scaling up to 20% at gem level 20. Supported Skills also now deal 10% more Spell Damage while you have Arcane Surge at gem level 1 (unchanged), up to 25% at gem level 20 (previously 19%).
  • Hierophant's Arcane Blessing Ascendancy Passive Skill no longer provides 50% increased Effect of Arcane Surge on you. Instead, it now provides "Arcane Surge grants 20% more Spell Damage to you".
  • The small passives prior to Arcane Blessing and Illuminated Devotion both now provide 20% increased Effect of Arcane Surge on you (previously 10%).
  • The Ascendant's Hierophant Ascendancy Passive Skill no longer provides 25% increased Effect of Arcane Surge on you. Instead, it now provides "Arcane Surge grants 10% more Spell Damage to you".
  • The small Passive Skill prior to the Arcane Capacitor Notable Passive Skill that provides Mana and Arcane Surge Effect now provides 20% increased Effect of Arcane Surge on you (previously 10%). The entry small Passive Skill for this cluster also now has 20% increased Effect of Arcane Surge on you.

Skill functions and interactions

  • Interaction with Totem, Trap, & Mine Skills: Spending mana by placing a totem, trap, or mine will not go towards gaining the Arcane Surge buff. Totems, traps, and mines that cast the skill also do not go towards gaining the buff.
  • Duration: Increases and reductions to duration will apply to the duration of the buff. Additionally, it adds a duration component to the linked skill, which makes it supportable by support gems like Less Duration Support and Swift Affliction Support (which apply their damage bonus), even if the active skill gem does not otherwise have a duration of its own.
  • Vaal Skills: This will not add the duration tag to a Vaal skill for the purposes of reducing soul gain prevention via skill effect duration reduction.
  • Eldritch Battery and Blood Magic: The buff will only activate if mana is spent. Spending Energy Shield or Life for the supported skill will not activate the buff.
  • Elreon's Signature Mod: If used with a skill such that the total mana cost of the skill is zero or less, it will not count as spending mana towards the Arcane Surge, and will never activate it.
  • When equipped on multiple skills, the Arcane Surge Grants buffs are applied globally and depend on the support gem level of the trigger skill. The More Spell Damage while you have Arcane Surge modifier is applied locally, and thus each support gem can have a different level (and therefore, different damage multiplier).
