The smugglers are desperate now. They’re trying their damnedest not to leave any evidence, but sooner or later they’ll have to go to their factory to pick up more drugs. And we have to stop them. You seize the illegal drugs being circulated in Stern, and I’ll find the dealers and trace them to their factory. We must find that factory before all of Stern becomes addicted to those dastardly drugs. Player, I need your help. – Mercenary Office Manager Basilock |

Description
Arthetine is carrying out a large-scale operation to stamp out illegal drugs. Even the high and mighty Arthetine government must not be able to handle it on its own because it’s outsourced the work to us Shadows. They’ve contracted us through Mercenary Office Manager Basilock, probably because it’s not brave enough to contact us directly. When the job is done, go report to him. Heh-heh… This is a bothersome mission, but it pays well. Feel free to take it on.

An Unfair Story of My Own
I only accepted this job because I didn’t want to settle down in Arthetine. Who knew it’d tie me down in a different sense? I can’t believe we can’t get our money until the job is completely done. We were only tasked with finding and destroying the kidnappers’ den–when did illegal drugs come into it? I’ve pored over our contract, and it doesn’t say anything about that!

A Letter of Hope
Hello. My name is Leon, and I live in Totrich. I’m writing to thank the Inspector for helping my father overcome his drug addiction and return to us, his family. He’d never listen to us, no matter how earnestly we pleaded with him. I feel as if this is all a dream.

Basilock responded to our question by showing us the original copy of his contract.
While the actual contract did not trigger our magick detection device, the technician suspected it had a text replacement spell cast on it.
Basilock stated he has filed a complaint with Treasurer Sasha and is awaiting her response.
