X% Chance to Block Attack Damage while wielding a Staff

Blocking is a layer of defense that will entirely prevent damage from an enemy hit unless modified by some outside effect like Glancing Blows. The chance to block is a random roll made per attack/cast. Block is capped by default at 75%. Characters do not have any base block.

Blocking a hit prevents all damage and harmful on hit effects such as status ailments. The attack must be a hit in order to be blocked, therefore block does not work against damage over time.

X% increased Spell Damage

Spells are skills that are cast or triggered by the user which can deal damage to an enemy or apply positive or negative effects to the caster, allies, or enemies. It is one of the two major categories for skills, the other being attacks. Unlike attacks, spells are not affected by accuracy or evasion.

Additionally, spell damage is one of four damage sources. Most spells that can deal damage with hits deal spell damage unless stated otherwise. Spell damage can be specifically mitigated by spell suppression.

X% increased Critical Strike Chance for Spells

Critical strike chance and critical strike damage multiplier are calculated separately for each spell and weapon attack. All weapons list a base critical strike chance, which only affects attacks using that weapon. Damage-dealing spells also have their own base critical strike chance, which is independent of the weapon used to cast the spell. For instance: the critical strike chance on a wand does not affect the chance to score a critical strike with Fireball, even when the player uses that wand to cast the spell.

X to maximum Mana

Mana is spent to activate skills, and is shown on the bottom right of the screen as a blue orb. It recovers slowly over time, but can be refilled quickly with flasks.

Life Gain on Kill: Gain 150 Life per Enemy Killed

Life gain on kill, mana gain on kill, and energy shield gain on kill is a form of recovery that instantly restores an amount of life, mana, or energy shield respectively when the character kills an enemy.

When an enemy is killed by a character’s attack, that character gains an amount of life equal to combined life gain on killing blow bonuses from passives and all other sources. This effect triggers once for each enemy killed. Unlike life leech, life gained this way is restored instantly.

Effects which grant life, mana, or charges on kill do not grant these bonuses when kills are achieved through proxy sources of damage, i.e.; minions, traps, mines, or totems.
