Tempests are area effects that apply buffs to both players and monsters within their area. The tempests appear as small whirlwinds which appear for 4 seconds then detonate, applying their effect within their area. Tempests which give buffs apply it to both players and monsters within the area of effect, with a duration of 10 seconds. Multiple tempest buffs can apply on the one player but their effects do not stack, effectively just refreshing their duration. Tempests which cast damaging spells will damage both players and monsters.
Tempests are available as a map effect, craftable through Kirac's map device if Tempest (Powerful Tempests can affect both Monsters and you, 20% increased Quantity of Items found in this Area, Tempest (Hidden)) is included in the current map mod rotation, despite it is not offered as an option for many leagues since last appeared in version 2.3.0. Incursion room may also affect the present day The Temple of Atzoatl so that the Temple has tempest as well.
Many of the dangerous Tempest prefixes grant additional item quantity and quality.
