Vaal Orb Corrupt on Map Effects

  • No effect (other than adding the corrupted property).
  • Reroll the item with random affixes. Rare maps will have 4-6 affixes.
    • When a map is rerolled this way, it has about a 50% chance to have its map tier increased by one and consequently its map base changed to a suitable map.
      • Tier 16 maps have an approximate 1/16 chance to convert into a rare tier 16 Vaal Temple Map.
      • This will not convert a tier 16 map into a tier 17 map.
      • When a Shaped or Elder Map gains a tier, it will become a Shaped or Elder (respectively) Map base of one tier higher, even if that map isn’t unlocked on the player’s Atlas. This system only exists on Standard, as it is no longer part of the current atlas system.
  • Reroll the map into a rare item with exactly eight random affixes, retaining the map base.
  • Add a special Vaal implicit mod.

In addition to these effects, all bosses of corrupted maps have a chance to drop Sacrifice Vaal Fragments or Vaal Skill Gems.

PoE Map Corruption Outcomes (Post 3.24 Update)

Great news for mappers! The Unidentified Map corruption outcome is gone as of Path of Exile’s 3.24 update. Instead, corrupting maps now offers a chance to gain a powerful new implicit modifier. Here are the possible implicit effects:

  • Increased Loot:
    • +(10–20)% Item Quantity: Find more loot!
    • +(8–12)% Item Rarity: Higher chance of getting rare items.
    • +(5–10)% Pack Size: Encounter bigger packs of monsters.
  • Enhanced Modifiers:
    • (10–20)% increased Explicit Modifier magnitudes: Existing map mods get a boost.
  • Vaal Fun:
    • Contains a Vaal Side Area: Explore a bonus hidden area with challenging content.
    • Area contains an additional guarded Exquisite Vaal Vessel: More chances for powerful rewards.
    • Unique Monsters drop Corrupted Items: Unique enemies drop special corrupted versions of their usual loot.
  • Gameplay Tweaks:
    • Players’ Vaal Skills do not apply Soul Gain Prevention: Unleash your Vaal skills without worrying about self-damage.
    • Map Crafting options for this Map have no cost: Craft your map for free!
    • Atlas Passives have (10–15)% increased Effect on Area: Get even more out of your Atlas investments.
  • Unique Challenges:
    • Quality applies to Pack Size instead of Item Quantity: A different way to scale your map difficulty.
    • Area has an additional random Scarab effect: Experience an unexpected twist to your map run.
    • Area is affected by (5–15) additional random Unallocated Notable Atlas Passives: The map gains random passive effects, potentially creating a wild and unpredictable experience.

Remember, corruption is a gamble! While these implicits are powerful, there’s always a chance you won’t get the one you desire.
