There seems to be some inconsistency with how to complete the challenge "Defeat a Possessed Map Boss while in a Ritual" in Path of Exile. Here's what you can try:

Option 1: Natural Possession

  1. Run a map with the mod "Map Bosses are Possessed"(Search). This should guarantee a possessed boss.
  2. Engage the boss, but don't kill it yet.
  3. Find the Ritual circle and activate the Ritual.
  4. The boss might become possessed by Tormented Spirits during the Ritual (usually at specific health thresholds).
  5. Defeat the possessed boss within the Ritual to complete the challenge.

Option 2: Forcing Possession

  1. Use a map with a large open area near the boss room (Glacier, Dunes are good options).
  2. Run a scarab that grants additional Tormented Spirits, like Torment Scarab.
  3. Lure the boss outside the boss room to an open area.
  4. Activate the Ritual outside the boss room.
  5. Kill enough monsters to spawn Tormented Spirits and have them possess the boss.
  6. Drag or lure the possessed boss back into the Ritual circle and defeat it.

Important Notes:

  • There have been reports of the challenge not registering even with a possessed boss in the Ritual. If this happens, try again or switch strategies.
  • Some maps with dual bosses (like City Square) might not work.
