PoE Bringer of Pain: Kill Maligaro, The Inquisitor

72. Bringer of Pain

Kill Maligaro, The Inquisitor.

Maligaro, The Inquisitor is a unique monster located in The Harvest. The Harvest is the final area of Act 4. It contains a waypoint and is connected to The Belly of the Beast Level 2.

Quest

Malachai’s Heart is acquired after defeating him.

Background

Maligaro was a thaumaturgist shortly before the Cataclysm. He worked for Malachai in Chamber of Sins as one of his Godless Three, along with his apprentice Doedre Darktongue. It was he who invented the idea of making humans even more connected with virtue gems than gemlings, extracting the very essence of the gem and inserting it into the body. He found his work very creative and was considered an artist. Another of Maligaro’s creations is a synthetic virtue gem. In his private life, he was quite eccentric, maintaining a homosexual relationship with his slave Raulo. When the Purity Rebellion overthrew the Emperor, the new Emperor Voll had burned Maligaro at the stake.

Strategy

Maligaro is a very dangerous enemy due to his heavy physical, fire, and most importantly, chaos damage. His regular attacks and Ethereal Knives makes him dangerous at close range, and players will have to move frequently to dodge not just Desecrate, but his Corpse Explosion as well. Without chaos resistance, Desecrate can make short work of a character if they do not get out of the way fast.

However, dodging Desecrate can be tricky due to his Vaal Fire Traps, which deals heavy chaos and fire damage when stepped on, and Maligaro will litter the battlefield with them. However, like with any other traps, they can be destroyed with area of effect. Leap Slam, and to a lesser extent, Lightning Warp, can mitigate the threats of traps while keeping you mobile, and Blade Vortex can trivialize the threat of his traps.
