Eye of Winter is a large projectile that fires out a torrent of cold projectiles in a spiral formation as it travels. Fires a single eye projectile which constantly releases shard projectiles in a spiral. The shards will damage enemies they impact, dealing cold damage. The eye cannot damage enemies. When the eye dissipates or collides with terrain, it releases a faster spiral of extra shards. Spell, Projectile, Cold. Level: 1–20. Cost: 14–26 Mana. Cast Time: 0.80 sec. There is about 1.1% of Path of Exile players use this gem as the main damage skill. Among those players, 48% of players are Saboteur. Other players: Occultist(21%), Ascendant(13%), Deadeye(10%).
Cold and Lighting are the main damage types. It mainly throws Traps or Mines. Therefore, recommend using these support gems: Trap and Mine Damage Support, Inspiration Support, and other mine support gems. For a Level 96 Saboteur, the DPS is about 96k: Cold(99%), Lightning(1%).
Other skills are also recommended: Flame Dash, Hydrosphere, Summon Skitterbots, Sniper's Mark, Clarity, Arcanist Brand.

I was very excited when I started designing sounds for Eye of Winter. Those icy visuals inspired me to gather some messy crunchy ice creaks of varying sizes and to blend them together with some scratchy whooshes. I then finished with a lightweight icy impact as it ended with an explosive spin. I tried a bunch of different approaches on this until I found the right combination that you are hearing now. This skill wears it’s inspiration on its sleeve and I was conscious of both acknowledging this lineage but also creating something fresh. For me, the sound that keeps it engaging is the icy-start cast sound and the natural tail for when projectiles shoot out of the sphere. It can be a real challenge for us to keep elements of skills sounding unique, with their own characteristics, but to also make them balanced and not annoying when spammed.

Additional Projectiles: Sources of additional projectiles do not increase the number of primary eye projectiles fired through casting this spell. Additional projectiles for this spell, obtained through modifiers or support gems such as Lesser Multiple Projectiles Support or Greater Multiple Projectiles Support only apply to the final spiral of shards.
Projectile Behaviors: The standard behaviors of projectiles, such as Pierce, Fork, and Chain do not apply to the primary "eye" projectile, as the eye does not actually collide with enemies. These behaviors do apply to the secondary shard projectiles, however.
Projectile Speed: Modifiers to projectile speed affect both types of projectiles from this skill- the eye and the secondary shard projectiles. If projectile speed is increased, for example, the eye projectile travels further than it normally would, as do the shard projectiles, which would travel further before they dissipate. This can effectively increase the coverage area of this skill. Bear in mind, however, that the faster the eye projectile, the larger the gap formed between shard projectiles unleashed in the spiral; this may cause single targets close to the caster to take less damage than if the eye projectile travels slower.
Spiral of Shard Projectiles: This skill fires an "eye" projectile which fires out secondary "shard" projectiles as it travels. These shards are released constantly as the eye travels, and if a target is directly in the center of the eye, the multiple shards can hit that target. This behavior also applies to the final spiral that is triggered upon the eye projectile reaching the end of its lifetime (through reaching its maximum distance or colliding with terrain). Though it may look like an explosion, it is indeed a very fast sequential spiral, meaning that with careful positioning by the player, a single target may be hit by all projectiles in this last spiral, effectively "shotgunning" this target.
