Icon Achievement Name Description Points
Card Counter Acquire a unique item from gambling 15

List of D2R Achievements Guide.

This trophy simply requires you to gamble a unique from gambling from the gambler merchants standing in each of the acts in Diablo 2.
Here are the odds of acquiring items when gambling:

  • Gambled items are always unknown
  • Unique: 1/2000 (.05%)
  • Set: 2/2000 (.1%)
  • Rare: 200/2000 (10%)
  • Magical: 1797/2000 (89%)

The gambler merchants can be found below:

  • Gheed – Stands in the left side corner buy a hut in act 1, you can talk with him to gamble items
  • Elzix – Stands to the right side of the palace by the top of the town in act 2
  • Alkor – Stands in a small hut in the upper right of town in act 3
  • Nihlathak – Stands by a small fire on the left side of town in act 5 – NOTE* he is the gambler until you complete the quest associated with Anya, after finishing the quest she becomes the new gambler in act 5

Diablo 2 Resurrected made things a little easier by adding a refresh button to change the screen instead of doing the old ways of closing the window talking to the merchant and opening up the window again. You can also buy multiple of the weapon or armor or jewelry repeatedly without it disappearing which is a very nice QoL change.
its recommended to save a ton of money and put it in a shared stash tab. Create a character and get to around level 15 or so and just gamble gloves and boots and armors and stuff. The price of items isn’t that high at this and if you saved up few hundred thousand you should be able to get a unique through gambling to get the trophy to pop
Some hints about gambling:

  1. The prices of gambling can be lowered with a Unique Gheeds Fortune grand charm which can reduce prices by 10-15% respectively (This requires level 62 minimum to equip the Gheeds Fortune)
  2. The prices of gambling can also be further lowered with the Runeword EDGE which is made by socketing a TIR TAL AMN rune into a bow and while equipped give you another 15% lower vendor prices (This can be used at level 25 at the latest as AMN rune requires lvl 25 to use)
  3. This could take you anywhere from 1-2000 or more purchases, it depends entirely on RNG
  4. The best chances are with rings and amulets even though they’re the most expensive. (might even gamble a soj! or maras necklace!)
