The King of the Mists is the major antagonist of Affliction league and the Viridian Wildwood.

The King of the Mists Location

The location of The King of the Mists is Crux of Nothingness. It can be accessed in the Viridian Wildwood of area level of 81+, indicated by three pedestals called "Dark Offering" and a lore object "Determination". The War for the Wildwood quest must be unlocked before accessing him.

Phase 1

The battle begins in a circular arena with three raised platforms that can be accessed using walkways. A large Ritual altar stands in the center of the arena, and three smaller "Mystic Fetish" altars on the platforms.

Mystic Miasma

Phase 2

The player is teleported to a very large arena covered in a maze of thick vines which cannot be crossed. The arena fills with Branching Affliction, a stacking debuff that deals physical and chaos damage over time. Follow the Sacred Wisps' path towards the large purple portal back to the arena.

Phase 3

The player is returned to the arena from phase 1, where the King in the Mists' body disintegrates and emerges as a large treant. The platforms are now covered in purple fire.

  • How do you earn Wildwood Ascendancy Points?

    • Your first 2 Wildwood Ascendancy Points are acquired when you first meet the associated NPC and choose their specialisation.
    • The next 4 points come from 2 quests from each NPC.
    • The final 2 points come from defeating the King in the Mists, which will unlock the final 2 points for all three Wildwood Ascendancies. If you do this quest in advance (e.g. through Multiplayer), it will count towards the points even if you aren't on that stage of the quest.
