Palia is a massively-multiplayer community simulation game set in a brand new high fantasy world with elements of open world adventure games. It’s a cozy and welcoming world that we hope fans of the community sim genre will love for years to come.
Palia will be officially available in North America and Western Europe for Closed Beta on August 2, and Open Beta on August 10th! You can also find Palia on Nintendo Switch, releasing in Holiday 2023.
What sort of globalized currency will the game be using? Will it be trade only, or are we looking at some form of Palia money?
Currently, gold is the primary fungible currency in Palia, but there are several other currencies you’ll interact with for specialty stores and I’m sure we’ll introduce new ones in the future as it makes sense for the content being released.

Palia Gold Farming
Early in Palia, you’ll want to focus on a few things to make Palia Gold fast:
- Selling items. Overall, the best items to sell involve Antlers, high-quality fish, and crops. Antlers can drop by killing Sernhuk. These are deer-like animals and players will need to hunt a lot of them for their hide.
- Completing quests. Quests reward you with gold and experience.
- Fishing. Cast a line in rivers, lakes, and beaches to catch different kinds of fish. To get high-quality fish, explore around the map and fish in any hotspots you can find (spots with bubbles). These are common and players can find them in every water source.
- Foraging. Chop trees and explore the wilderness to collect a variety of resources. Farming crops is a simple and efficient way to make money. The best crop for the early game of Palia is the Tomato, as it has the highest selling price.
- Hunting. Chase down wild chapaas and sernuks across fields, forests, and mountains. Hunting Sernuk with a bow and arrow is extremely fast (especially with standard arrows or better) and efficient. Sernuk Meat, Antlers, and Hide all stack in nice high stack counts and are worth a ton of gold. Set out to hunt for awhile and come back with thousands of gold to be spent as you wish.
- Mining. Break down stones and nodes for precious ore and materials.
- Insect Catching. Sneak up and catch bugs and insects as they flutter and scurry across the lands.
- Cooking. Slice, dice, mix, and bake your way through dozens of different recipes.
- Furniture Making. Make a house your home by crafting and decorating to create your perfect space.
- Gardening. Tend to your garden to grow tomatoes, carrots, apples, and more!

Palia Gold Farming Tips & Tricks
Feeling a little stuck or looking for an extra boost to your Palia exploration? Check out this section for some gameplay tips and tricks from our very own developer teams!
Settings, Menus, & UI
- Check out the Keybindings menu to look up all of your keyboard shortcuts - or change them around, if that’s your thing!
- Remember to check your H menu if you’re not sure where your tent just went or you can’t remember how to place a room in your house!
- You can click and drag the locations of your tools on the tool wheel to maximize your personal efficiency. This works for your emote wheel, too!
- If you’re training for a marathon, remember your Sprint button! Choose between tap, toggle, and hold-to-sprint in your Settings menu to best suit your own playing style.
- Manage your friend requests, parties, and more from your social menu - just press “O” to open it up and explore!
- Are your friends on another server? Send them a server sync request from your social menu to bring them over to yours!
Quests & General Gameplay
- If you’ve just joined and it looks like your friends aren’t around - don’t stress! You might still be in the tutorial! Just keep on keepin’ on and once you’ve gotten your housing plot set up, you’ll be in the clear.
- Keep an eye out for different quest markers or different reactions from the villagers in Kilima as you get to know them - they might give you clues as to how they feel about you or what they like!
- Running out of bag space? Check out Zeki’s General Store for an upgrade. Quick note that you won’t find this at his register - it’s a super special deal, so look around in the store for something that looks like a backpack!
- If you notice you’re not gaining any new experience while you’re completing skills, make sure to check your focus bar. If it’s empty - grab something to eat! Don’t work on an empty stomach!
- Want to mark a spot on your map? Drop a waypoint by clicking on the map with your middle mouse button and everyone in your party will be able to see it!
- Stuck on a quest? Keep forgetting to hand one in? Check out your quest log and pin it to the top of your list!
- Looking to try your luck with the Zeki Capsule machine? You can build up your Zeki Coins by shopping at Zeki’s general store. Make any purchase and Zeki will send you a coin the next day!
- Wondering how to get your glider? Don’t fret - you’ll get there! Maybe Jina can point you in the right direction…
Skills & Crafting
- Stuck on trying to find Emerald Carpet Moss or Spice Sprouts? Scout along the coast near Einar’s fishing pond for the moss or the Kilima Village ruins where Jina hangs out for the Spice Sprouts. Be patient - it may take a bit to find them, but they’re there!
- Furniture doesn’t take up any storage space in your chests, so don’t worry about tucking away older pieces!
- Some of the critters in Bahari Bay might look a little different - and they might take higher level equipment to hunt or catch!
- If a tree “heals” itself while you’re trying to chop it down - don’t freak out! You’ve found a rare, enchanted tree! Grab some friends to take it on together.
- Bug catching or foraging with friends? Don’t worry about having to split up your loot! The amount of resources you harvest isn’t affected by the number of people in your party. Palia’s just magical like that.

Are there plans for a wishlist mechanic for the store? Some way for players with more money to spoil their friends, or maybe gift items to a random player to support the game?
We definitely want to give opportunities for gifting, but it’s a question of when, not if. When we add gifting, there are a lot of extra things we need to set up to protect players and ourselves from fraud – and we don’t yet know when we’ll be able to do that. There’s just so much to do so to set expectations it could be a while. As for wishlists, we can’t promise one way or another about that particular mechanic but we’ll definitely put a lot of thought into how to make a great gifting experience!
What are your current plans on the topic of hindering actions that will harm the in-game economy?
This is certainly something we’ve been thinking about from the very early stages of Palia’s development. One decision we’ve made in this regard is to have some restrictions and limitations on the transfer of goods between players. This choice is absolutely a trade-off that adds some inconvenience, but does so in hopes of making the in-game economy continuously work for a broader group of players while mitigating the impact of botters.

What are the plans for bug catching? Will there be anything like collections or terrariums to display them in?
Broadly speaking, we want all of the gathering skills in Palia to be useful for more than just earning gold. For bug catching, we really like the expressive potential of displaying your bug collection in something like a terrarium, and are actively exploring ideas there alongside other possibilities.
Beginner Tips for Farming Palia Gold
Focus
It’s important to make sure you’re getting the most out of your skills, and it’s always easier to focus on a full stomach. Eating meals or raw food will increase your Focus, which will give you a bonus to all experience gained. If you’re struggling to find recipes to cook, check in with Reth at the Ormuu’s Horn Inn for some tips.

Upgrades
You’ll find when you begin your journey in Palia that there will be resources you can’t chop or break. You might run into resources that need higher tier tools to harvest, or see some rare creatures that are too difficult to catch with your default tools. Consider upgrading them to improve your adventuring experience!

Design Inspiration
You can put all that wood, stone and other materials you’ve been collecting to good use by crafting up some furniture for your home! Each time you craft a new piece, you have the chance to be struck with inspiration for a new recipe. Keep building to fill your home with the coziest handmade furniture possible!

Refining Materials
Once you’ve gotten a handle on collecting materials, each Guild Leader will provide you upgrades to refine them into special items. Stone can be turned into Stone Bricks, lumber into Wood Planks, and more! Make sure you’re checking in with the Guilds often so that you don’t miss out on expanding your crafters.
