How to Get Bench Players in the Game:
Substitutions: You can substitute bench players for starters during the game. This is commonly done for pitchers (replacing the starting pitcher with a relief pitcher) or for position players (replacing a starter who is struggling defensively or offensively).
Pinch Hitting: If a baserunner is on and you want a different batter to face the pitcher, you can use a pinch hitter from your bench. The original batter is replaced, and the pinch hitter gets one at-bat in that situation.
Pinch Running: If you have a runner on base (especially a slower baserunner), you can use a pinch runner from your bench to replace them. The pinch runner has more speed and can potentially steal bases or score runs more easily.
Modes to Achieve This:
Exhibition: This is the easiest and most controllable option. Play against the CPU on a lower difficulty level. You can liberally substitute players throughout the game to ensure you use two bench players.
Franchise/March to October: Play through games and look for situations where substituting a starting pitcher (with a reliever) or a position player (due to performance or fatigue) makes sense. You can also look for pinch-hitting or pinch-running opportunities.
