Counter Attacking – Stay Vigilant!

As more challenging end-game activities (like Legion Raids) arrive in the Western version of Lost Ark, Saintone discussed how the importance of landing counterattacks against bosses increases to the point where sometimes not countering the boss will lead to immediate failure.

The role of countering is not specific to any particular player. Some players may not have a counter in their damage kit, whereas others have it in their basic loadout. Make sure to communicate with your team, to ensure you know who’s able to, so you can position accordingly. As many bosses are mobile or can turn, sometimes it’s not possible to maneuver in front of them to land the counter, so whoever happens to be in front of the enemies’ face needs to land the counter instead.

Unlike telegraphs only highlighting the boss an instant before, many future counterattacks have a more obvious tell before they’re launched— allowing a quick eye to reposition in advance and land a counter! Counterattacks are very satisfying and buy your team valuable time to attack bosses who are otherwise very fickle about standing still for DPS windows.

List of Counter Skills

Each character in Lostark will provide you with at least one counter skill. You can check it by clicking “K” and searching for the skill that has the counter option in it. If you’re still not sure, check if your skill has [Counter : Yes] in the description.

One more important thing to remind you, point the counter skill to the HEAD of the boss.

Counter skills are definitely important skills that lost arks players should get used to but remember that many of the players are new to the game and don’t know about this counter-attack. Counter Attacking Mechanics

Certain enemies, usually boss monsters and up, will occasionally glow blue as they wind up for certain attacks. During this short window, you can use specific attacks to interrupt this assault and leave the enemy open for incoming damage.

Counter attack is the most exciting and fun part of the boss battle in Lost Ark. If you counter attack at the right moment, you can avoid the boss’s attack and deal him extra damage for a few seconds. Not only will this prevent you from getting damaged, but it will also help you defeat him faster.

Counter skills are used when the boss from Guardian, Abyss, and Legion raids shines blue after a certain movement. When you see the boss shines blue, you can use your “counter skills” to the head of the boss to block the boss’s skill and knock them out for a short period of time. It HAS to be the HEAD of the boss. If you hit anywhere else, the counter will not succeed.

Especially when you get to experience higher raids, this counterattack becomes more crucial since you can earn precious damage time for your teammates and block out the boss’s attack. Moreover, when you reach the Legion raids, some gimics will require you to counterattack the boss or else the boss will wipe out the whole raid.
