Journal

  • Feeling suitably recovered from your exertions at the battle of Paglth'an, you return to the Rising Stones to meet with your comrades. No sooner have you exchanged greetings than an envoy arrives with a message from the Alliance. Apparently, a historic assembly will shortly be taking place in Ala Mhigo, and the Scions' presence is requested. In addition to the usual Alliance representatives, delegates from the various beast tribes have been invited to attend, in the hope that all the peoples of Eorzea might unite under a single banner.
  • After an uncertain start, the meeting in Ala Mhigo proceeds remarkably smoothly, with the Alliance and the beast tribes agreeing to set aside their differences and join forces against their common foe, the Telophoroi. The talks culminate in the founding of the Grand Company of Eorzea, a dream long nurtured by Alphinaud in particular.
  • Outside the palace, you and Alphinaud are met by Kan-E-Senna, who requests that you visit the sylphs of the Ashcrown Consortium. As traders in crystal, they are well versed in negotiating with the many and varied peoples of Eorzea, and their counsel should be greatly beneficial to the newly formed coalition. Alphinaud also wishes to take this opportunity to draft a proposal based on his experiences as commander of the Crystal Braves, and offer it to the Grand Company of Eorzea that it may avoid a similar fate.
  • Before making his proposal, Alphinaud resolves to collect the testimonies of those who once served as Crystal Braves. Being the order's former commander, however, he acknowledges that he is unlikely to receive honest answers from those who abandoned the cause. So Alisaie and G'raha volunteer to seek out said individuals, while you and Alphinaud turn your attention to those who joined the Scions of the Seventh Dawn.
  • At Castrum Oriens, you meet with Riol and Alianne, former Crystal Braves who now serve as Scions. They explain that while the Crystal Braves were formed with the best of intentions, some members were more devoted to the cause than others, with many seeking to use their status for personal gain. Struck by this observation, Alphinaud ponders how best to unite the Grand Company of Eorzea in pursuit of a single purpose.

1.2 On Official Business

Alphinaud is keen to hear what Alisaie and G'raha Tia have learned from the Braves who turned their back on the cause.

  • Your discussion with Kan–E–Senna is interrupted by the arrival of a flustered sylph bearing urgent news from Xelphatol. It would seem the Telophoroi have marched straight through the Ixal's homeland, scattering all before them, on their way to the Carteneau Flats. Wasting no time, the Elder Seedseer orders the Twin Adders to ready their airships, and bids you join them on their journey to the battlefield.
  • Outside the airship port, you are surprised to find Arenvald, whom Fordola has brought all the way from Ul'dah in the hope of speaking with Alphinaud. Your happiness soon gives way to shock, however, when you discover that the youth is now confined to a wheelchair due to the injuries he sustained in the tower at Paglth'an. Having apparently resigned himself to the fact that he can no longer join the other Scions on their adventures, he asks Alphinaud to fight on in his stead and be the hero that he cannot. While these well-meaning words only add to the─largely self-inflicted─weight of expectations with which Alphinaud has been struggling, he seems grateful for the encouragement with battle just around the corner.
  • Their numbers bolstered by tempered beastmen and lunar primals, the legions of the Telophoroi test the newly forged Grand Company of Eorzea to its breaking point. As you and your fellow Scions descend upon the field of combat, it becomes apparent that the enemy have set their sights on an aetherial confluence buried deep beneath the ground, though their true designs remain a mystery. Knowing only that they must be stopped, you divide your forces and engage a nigh-endless army of foes, drawing upon hitherto untapped reserves of strength, and succeed at length in driving the Telophoroi hordes from their prize.
  • Heart still pounding, you look up to the heavens to find Fandaniel staring down at you intently. Making light of his failure, he declares that while the day may be yours, your efforts have earned you no more than a brief stay of execution, and with that he takes his leave. Whether the Ascian is right only time will tell, but the fact remains that when tested, the Grand Company of Eorzea emerged unbroken, which is surely cause to celebrate in itself. You permit yourself a weary smile, and troop from the field. Soon after, a grateful Lord Aymeric offers to fly you and your comrades back to the Rising Stones─where it becomes clear he has much to discuss.
  • Reasoning that the Grand Company of Eorzea can be relied upon to keep the Telophoroi at bay, Lord Aymeric requests that the Scions search instead for a means to neutralize the threat of the towers. Given Sharlayan's preeminence in the field of aetherological research, it is agreed that the solution will most likely be found there; along, perhaps, with knowledge pertaining to the Final Days. Unfortunately, you will not be able to confirm your suspicions until Krile has obtained permission for you all to set foot in the infamously insular nation, and a long wait seems in prospect.
  • Sometime later, you accompany Y'shtola and the others on an expedition to investigate the mechanism by which the towers absorb aether, and learn to your dismay that they are draining the lifeblood of the land itself. As you grimly turn for home, you hear an ephemeral voice call out to you and you alone...
  • It warns that the end draws nigh...and that the fate of the star is in your hands.

  • The chief informs you of a curious rumor─that dwarven automata have been spotted about Eulmore of late. As both the machines and the secrets of their construction are generally to be found within dwarven settlements exclusively, he has a sneaking suspicion that their sudden prevalence elsewhere has something to do with Konogg's departure from Komra. Eager for any chance of setting things right with the youth, he asks that you follow this trail and see if it leads to Konogg.
  • A merchant in Eulmore, located via your uncanny investigative instincts, claims to have done business with a dwarf fitting Konogg's description and inclinations. He generously gives you a piece of parchment indicating the whereabouts of said dwarf's current dwelling─though not without saddling you with wares to deliver. Alas, when you arrive, Konogg is no longer to be found within. Perhaps he departed with Anogg, but whence, who can say...
  • You give the chief the news of what you found in Konogg's erstwhile home along with the bottle of mead he purchased in Eulmore. He seems disappointed, though unsurprised, lamenting that this affair has been an unfortunate one from start to finish. He further muses that to err is inevitable─a fact with which you, too, must make peace.

  • Resistance scouts have confirmed the IVth Legion has abandoned Castrum Lacus Litore, and are now consolidating their forces at Zadnor. Despite the presence of the imperial fleet, Bajsaljen intends to confront the enemy, with Camp Vrdelnis as the staging ground.
  • As per Marsak's instructions, you speak with Sjeros, who is to act as your escort to Zadnor.
  • Thanks to the Ironworks' ingenuity and contributions from the Dalmascan resistance, Cid was able to erect a barrier to protect Camp Vrdelnis from aerial assaults. Bajsaljen has a mind to push the front line forward, however, and any outposts established hereafter will also require similar protection. Thankfully, the Ironworks already has a plan of action, which Lilja is eager to explain.
  • The Resistance seeks to secure new outposts closer to the imperials' base of operations, but to do so will require further barriers and a sufficient source of energy to power them. To that end, Cid and Lilja ask you to place devices in the field to redirect the flow of aether towards the proposed outposts.
  • Using the Ironworks' latest creation, the Resistance should be able to obtain all the power they need to maintain a barrier surrounding each outpost, assuming, of course, the devices actually work. You steel yourself for yet another foray into the battlefield, that you may carve the first foothold in enemy territory.

  • The Resistance stands ready to march against the IVth Legion in the hopes of distracting them long enough for Cid to carry out his plan. If all goes well, the Dalriada will be disabled, perhaps giving Bajsaljen and his troops the edge needed to rout the imperials once and for all.
  • Lilja has finished work on the D.A.M., and has even found the ideal location at which to set it. However, a number of final adjustments have to be made on-site, meaning that she must accompany you out onto the battlefield.
  • While seeking a suitable spot to set the D.A.M., you are assaulted by a small unit of IVth Legion soldiers. They prove no match for your martial prowess, and it is not long before you and Lilja resume preparing the D.A.M.
  • With the D.A.M. in place, the Resistance is ready to set their plan in motion. What they were not expecting, however, was for the Dalriada to roar to life. Undeterred by the not-so-small setback of the imperial warship entering the fray, Cid succeeds in activating the aetherwave amplifier, and the Dalriada is forced to make an emergency landing. The sight of this emboldens the Resistance, and so they prepare to press forward.
  • The Dalriada has been rendered inoperable, but it remains to be seen what armaments yet remain within. Even so, there may never come a finer opportunity for the Resistance to strike, and Bajsaljen intends to seize it. He asks that you accompany his troops into the warship, and at last put an end to the IVth Legion's schemes to control Bozja.
  • With Lyon and Menenius defeated, the IVth Legion's plans appear to have fallen to ruin. There is no time to revel in your victory, however, for the Allagan weapon, which lay dormant in the ship, breaks free from its confines. It takes to the sky and begins amassing energy to release in an attack of cataclysmic proportions. Before delivering its fatal blow to the people of Bozja, however, Queen Gunnhildr appears, her holy blade in hand. The two entities clash overhead, the ensuing explosion claiming both the Allagan weapon and the queen.
  • The threat of the IVth Legion and their Allagan weapon is no more. You thought to speak with Bajsaljen, but Marsak informs you he has already returned to Gangos. After your many travails together, the Resistance leader would no doubt welcome you to reflect on this historic victory.
  • You expect to find Bajsaljen in the midst of merrymaking, but instead he is already hard at work setting the foundation for a new Bozja. The myriad factions that comprised the Resistance originally came together out of necessity, but if all goes to plan, the dream of a united Bozja may very well soon become a reality.
  • The fight for freedom is won, and now work to rebuild may begin in earnest. Only time will tell what manner of nation Bozja will become, but you have every confidence it will prove a beacon of peace and prosperity to which others will aspire.

  • According to Zlatan, one of the surviving members of Gunnhildr's Blades recently discovered on the battlefield a new variety of crystal that contains not memories, but raw emotions. Gerolt suspects that, with a little effort, these fascinating specimens can be used to reforge the Resistance weapons into the pinnacle of martial perfection.
  • Regana has agreed to call upon her colleagues in the House of Splendors, and will be instructing them to deliver the necessary materials to Gangos. As one would expect of dealings with the much-maligned organization, this service will come at a cost, however, and it falls to you to procure the goods they request as payment─whatever they may be.

  • In exchange for the metal alloy, the House of Splendors has asked for two sets of freshly penned memoirs. They went on to say these tales of heated battle should be based on encounters in Bozja or, failing that, those of an otherworldly nature. There is a pained look in Zlatan's eyes as he tells you they have asked for thirty volumes of each. And so he bids you safe travels as you set off to the battlefield in search of inspiration for your writings.
  • You return with the requested memoirs, an arduous labor of blood, sweat, and ink. Regana's associates are thrilled to have completed the transaction, but apparently more so to meet Gerolt. They shower him with compliments, followed by a proposal for a wholesale contract for additional shipments of metal alloy. You quickly interject before he has the chance to accept, prompting the attendants to take their leave. Though no new contracts were signed, you are one step closer to a more powerful Resistance weapon.

  • Based on the techniques used to create materia, the House of Splendors has devised an incantation that can commit the energies of emotion to the Resistance weapon. For ease of use─or perhaps ease of profit─the spell has been penned to magicked scrolls, and the House has asked you supply them with memories of the dying in exchange. Zlatan forgoes explanations of the crystallized memories and tells you only that two varieties of memory are required, thirty of each.
  • You return to Gangos, memories of the dying in hand. The transaction is carried out as arranged, but before Regana's associate leaves, she takes a moment to offer Gerolt an additional contract for larger shipments of magicked scrolls. Much to Zlatan's surprise, the attendant is strangely composed when the offer is rejected. As she turns to leave, you find yourself another step closer to refining your Resistance weapon.

  • Gerolt can hardly contain himself now that your dealings with the House of Splendors are complete. Meanwhile, Regana continues to act suspiciously as she leaves to handle heretofore unknown business. Zlatan intends to find out what she is up to while you see to the final step in Gerolt's plan.
  • The final and most vital ingredient needed to refine your Resistance weapon is the aetherial energy of raw emotions. With sightings of crystals bearing this energy on the battlefield, Zlatan asks that you make ready to go out and search for them.

Journal

  • Before the finishing touches can be added to the Resistance weapon, Zlatan has one last task for you.
  • As Zlatan explains it, the raw emotions you seek were first discovered at the site of intense battles where emotions ran high. He asks that you seek out equally fierce confrontations to find fifteen crystals of raw emotion.
  • You return to Gangos with the required raw emotions, and it is not long before the familiar clangor of Gerolt's hammer and the whirring of the Allagan node fills the air. Before long, the work is completed, and you find yourself the proud owner of a weapon the ancient Bozjans could only dream of, possessed of a strength that may very well rival that of Save the Queen. Zlatan wastes no time relaying the good news to Bajsaljen.
