Corruption has befallen Sanctuary in Season of the Malignant, the first Season of Diablo IV. On July 20 at 10 a.m. PDT, a new Season Journey, Questline, Boss, Dungeons, Battle Pass, and more will go live.
Burning from Within is the first quest you will encounter in Season of the Malignant. You will be tasked with saving a man named Cormond from a strange demon. He will eventually teach you how what Malignant Hearts are and how you can capture them.
During this quest, you will meet Cormond after saving him from a strange demon and he will teach you about the Malignant Hearts.
In A Plague of Hatred quest, you will learn how to craft Invokers and Cormond will teach you how to use them on Malignant Outgrowths that you can find inside Malignant Tunnels.
You will be asked to meet Cormond outside of Orbei, where he will teach you how to make Invokers. He will also show you how to employ them on the Malignant Outgrowths you find inside Malignant Tunnels.
Holding Back To The Flood is a new Side Quest in Diablo 4 Season 1.

In Answers in the Ashes mission, you are tasked with meeting Cormond in the monastery and discovering the Crypts of Orbei. Here you will learn the truth about the Cages of Binding and defeat Varshan the Consumed.
Meet up with Cormond in the monastery and explore the Crypts of Orbei to find the secrets behind the Cages of Binding and defeat Varshan the Consumed.
During A Prayer for Salvation questline, Cormond will ask you to fetch 3 items in different areas around 2 Hawezar Region Strongholds and 1 Hawezar Region Dungeon, Belfry Zakara, to learn more about the Cages of Binding.
You don’t have to clear the Strongholds and the Dungeon to get these items. Simply go to the spot shown in the images below, grab the item, and leave to continue the storyline. That said, these Strongholds are around level 35-40 so if you’re dying repeatedly, take the time to level up first.
After completing the Chapter 3 Seasonal Journey, speak with Cormond to complete Hope's Guardian questline.

You will be instructed to meet Cormond at the Zakarum Ruins to conduct some research as part of Ruins of the Faith mission. You two will look for additional information and a means of rescuing Varshan. Additionally, you will be tasked with gathering statues.
Look for Cormond at the Zakarum Ruins and explore the hidden path under the statue that leads to Karamat’s Reach.
To complete The Cold Hard Truth mission, you must defeat the Velkhova Malignant Enemies to enter the Velkhova Church Undercroft, where Cormond will execute a ritual to face Varshan the Consumed.
Defeat the Malignant Enemies from Velkhova to get inside the Velkhova Church Undercroft where Cormond will perform a ritual to fight Varshan the Consumed.
A Merciful Fate is the last mission of Part 1 of the Season 1 questline, where you will be tasked with meeting Cormond to obtain the Invoker of Varshan recipe. Completing this questline will also reward you with the Malignant Purifier title.
