Achievement pops after you hire a Barbarian as a mercenary in Act 5. You unlock this option by completing Quest 2 in Act 5.

CAUTION – As you are going for these achievements make sure to remove any gear you don’t want to lose from your current mercenary. You will lose it when you hire a new one.

For this trophy, you need to reach act 5 and do the quest “freeing the barbarians” they are located across the Frigid Highlands. These barbarians will be locked inside cages marked as a white outline on your minimap. Break the door down and clear the area until they town portal back home. Once you unlock 3 of these cages you will complete the mission. Head back to town and talk to Qual-khek he will give you 3 runes which you can equip in a shield for the rune word Ancients pledge which is a fantastic elemental resist shield to use. After that, he will allow you to hire barbarian mercenaries.

Notes about the Barb mercs’:

• They can use 1 two-hander weapon or a 1 hander weapon (Stat permitted)
• They can use all armor types (Stat permitted)
• They can use all helm types Including barb specific helms (Stat permitted)
• They have the same move set across all mercs (Bash and stun)

As with any merc you want to deck them out in resists and damage reducing/magic reducing gear to help them survive.
