You can boost this by transfering money from your chest to your character back and forth. It will count every time, for example if you have 100k in your chest take it out and put it back in again five times to unlock this achievement.

This trophy requires you to pick up a total of 500,000 gold. Gold is this game’s currency for everything purchased through vendors in acts 1 through 5. You use it to buy armor and weapons, as well as use it for gambling magic items from the gamblers in acts 1, 2, 3, & 5. You will certainly collect a lot more gold than this over the course of your adventures due to the fact that gold drops increase as you move through the acts and move through difficulties. This can also be affected by gear that has a magical modifier on it that increases Monster Gold Drop %. Which will increase the number of gold enemies drop for you.

• Selling items also counts as collecting gold
• Having a friend drop you a stack of 500,000 gold will also pop this trophy as well as dropping 1 million gold for you to pick up with also pop the other gold trophy  Mr. Money Bags
• You can also drop your gold on the ground and pick it up over and over and the trophy will pop.

Some notable things to take heed of:

1. Champion enemies drop a big gold pile to pick up and there are plenty of champion enemies through the game.
2. Unique named enemies drop big piles of gold when killed
3. Bosses drop big gold piles when killed

These can be farmed repeatedly over and over by quitting out of the current game and going right back into a new game which you will definitely want to do for the item drops as well.
