Unwavering Stance

Unwavering Stance is a keystone passive skill. It grants stun immunity, but prevents the character from evading attacks.

  • Cannot be Stunned
  • Cannot Evade enemy Attacks

It sets chance to avoid being stunned to 100% and sets evasion chance to 0%. It does not affect dodge chance.

Normally, whenever a player or monster takes damage from a hit, there is a chance they will be stunned. A stun interrupts whatever that creature was doing while a brief animation is played. The Unwavering Stance keystone grants guaranteed stun avoidance.

Evasion is the first layer of defence that increases a character’s chance to evade incoming attacks. However, if the character cannot evade attacks, which means enemies will always hit regardless of their accuracy rating or chance to hit.

Is Unwavering Stance worth it? It depends on your build and gear.

Unwavering Stance PoE

Unwavering Stance + Iron Reflexes

Unwavering stance doesn’t remove evasion rating it just removes your chance to evade. Iron Reflexes keystone removes all evasion rating and converts it to armour rating. It is therefore possible to utilize the effects of both keystones simultaneously.

Blind

The base duration of Blind is 4 seconds. Attacking with Resolute Technique or attacking a target which has Unwavering Stance will nullify the miss chance. Blinding a target will also reduce its effective critical strike chance by reducing its chance to succeed confirmation rolls of critical strikes. Blind is not an elemental status ailment and is not affected by the Crystal Skin notable passive skill.

Accuracy

Chance to hit can not be lower than 5% but can hit 100%.

  • Resolute Technique, Worthy Foe, Vigilant Strike Vigilant Strike, and The Effigon The Effigon will raise the chance to hit to 100%, ignoring all accuracy and evasion stats of the attacker and defender respectively.
  • Unwavering Stance does the same, in reverse; all attacks against the subject will hit regardless of accuracy.

Dodge

Dodge is a layer of defence that grants a chance to prevent a damaging hit.

There are two types of dodge:

  • Dodge Attacks applies to attacks. It is rolled after evasion and is not connected to the attacker’s accuracy, so chance to dodge is unaffected by evasion-related mechanics such as blind, Resolute Technique or Unwavering Stance.
  • Dodge Spell Damage applies to spells. It is rolled before damage mitigation.

Dodge Attacks and Dodge Spell Damage are both capped at 75%.
