PoE 3.20: changed the outcome odds for Tainted Orbs of Fusing to be more favorable, to match where they were in Scourge League. 3.19.1 Patch Notes: Improved the outcome odds for the Tainted Orb of Fusing, Tainted Jeweller's Orb and Tainted Mythic Orb. 1. It only works on corrupted items.
2. The best use is for a five-linked and one socket item, for gambling a six-linked item.
3. It can be used to re-roll the links between sockets on a weapon or piece of armour.
4. The colour and number of sockets remain unchanged.
5. It drops from Scourge monsters.

Farming Tainted Orb of Fusing

Tainted Orb of Fusing has restrictions on where or how it can drop. Drop level: 50. Tainted Currency have a chance to drop from Beyond monsters, and is guaranteed to drop several random Tainted Currency from Beyond bosses.

Example

In this example, the body armour has a five-linked and one socket. Firstly, it removes the links on the largest group. Next, it adds a link and becomes a five-linked and one socket item again. In the third time, it becomes a six-linked item.

Crafting Bench Recipe

If one either wants to avoid randomness, or wishes to obtain a specific link, one can instead use the Crafting Bench recipe for a corrupted item.

Tainted Divine Teardrop	68	Unpredictably raises or lowers the tier of each modifier on a corrupted rare item.
Tainted Exalted Orb	35	Unpredictably adds or removes a modifier on a corrupted rare item. Rare items can have up to six random modifiers.
Tainted Jeweller’s Orb	8	Unpredictably adds or removes a socket on a corrupted item.
Tainted Mythic Orb	2	Unpredictably either upgrades a corrupted item to unique rarity or destroys it. Cannot apply to Maps.
Tainted Orb of Fusing	50	Unpredictably adds or removes a link to the largest group of linked sockets on a corrupted item.
Tainted Oil	1	Can be combined with other Oils at Cassia to Enchant Corrupted Rings, Amulets or Blighted Maps.

PoE 3.20 Changes

Problem:
When reintroducing Tainted currency items, the chances for different outcomes were rebalanced to be appropriate for the core game. The new odds for Tainted Orbs of Fusing made it hard to justify using one on your gear as it could become an expensive venture.

Solution:
We've changed the outcome odds for Tainted Orbs of Fusing to be more favorable, to match where they were in Scourge League.
