Buide Guides

The Fourth Vow lets your armour also apply to chaos damage taken from hits, but allows physical damage taken to bypass your energy shield. Having your armour apply to multiple damage types can be quite the defensive boon!

Armour also applies to Chaos Damage taken from Hits

Normally, armour will only mitigate physical damage hits, not elemental or chaos damage hits. However, with this item, armour can apply to Chaos Damage hits. In cases where armour mitigates multiple types of damage, it does so separately for each type it mitigates. If you make armour apply to Chaos damage as well as physical damage, then take a hit containing both physical and Chaos damage, then armour will calculate Physical Damage Reduction based on comparing the physical damage to armour, and apply that only to the physical damage, and will calculate Chaos Damage Reduction based on comparing the Chaos damage to armour, and apply that only to the Chaos damage.

Physical Damage taken bypasses Energy Shield

Normally, if the character has any energy shield remaining when damage is taken, that damage is inflicted on energy shield first. Physical damage reductions and elemental resistances applies to damage before it is deducted from energy shield.

However, with this item, Physical Damage taken bypasses Energy Shield.

X% increased Armour and Energy Shield

Armour is a form of defence that mitigates incoming physical damage from hits. Armour can implicitly appear on equipment much like evasion, energy shield, and ward. Armour rating can be increased by wearing equipment, taking certain passive skills, using skills (e.g. Molten Shell), and drinking flasks (e.g. Granite Flask and Basalt Flask).

Energy shield is a form of defence that acts as an additional hit point pool on top of life. Along with armour and evasion, energy shield is one of the three defence types that can implicitly appear on equipment. Unlike life, energy shield will recharge naturally after the character has not taken any damage for 2 seconds.

X% to Chaos Resistance

Chaos damage is not elemental, thus “+% to all Elemental Resistances” does not affect chaos, but “+% to all maximum Resistances” does. Chaos resistance can be modified by items and passive skills. The Keystone passive skill Chaos Inoculation grants total immunity to Chaos damage.

Regenerate X% of Life per second

Regeneration is a form of recovery that automatically restores life, mana or energy shield over time.
